Aim: To provide schools in underprivileged communities in West Africa, with essential materials needed to enhance the youth's educational journey

Even though some children may have access to school, being raised in a low-income family may hinder their ability to purchase items needed to sustain their education. It comes with no surprise that attendance and drop-out-school rates in Sub-Saharan Africa is a dire issue that affects the quality of education in the region. According to UNESCO Institute for Statistics, about 21% of children in primary school (about 6-11 years), 34% of youth in lower secondary school (12-14 years), and 58% of youth in upper secondary school (15-17 years) drop out of school. Unfortunately, one major reason for these high dropout rates is not having the basic items needed to stay in school. Parents are unable to keep up with the high cost of school supplies and would naturally preserve the little of their income in feeding their children instead. This is why we at Life Beacon International believe it is our duty to help alleviate the burden of our future young minds by creating an environment where children don’t have to worry about missing out on their education. As such, we would like to continue our mission by supporting students in Togo who need our help.

The Life Beacon Back to School Project was established to provide schools in underprivileged communities with materials needed to enhance their educational journey. Apart from donating books and stationaries, our Life Beacon volunteers also provide counselling and mentorship to students and teachers to encourage them.  We believe this activity is crucial since it inspires students and teachers not to give up despite their circumstances. Last year, Life Beacon inspired students and teachers in Baoufle, Ivory Coast, at the L’école Scolaire de Koudogou 1, 2, and 3. Students were given stationeries, textbooks, and reading books to build a library. Teachers also received teaching materials and certificates of acknowledgement as gratitude for their diligent work.

Our effort in communities in Ivory Coast and Ghana has impacted over 700 students ranging from the ages of 7 to 19 years old.  This would not have been possible without the kindness of donors, partners and volunteers. Therefore, we kindly ask for your support in helping us raise funds to create a brighter future for children eager to learn.

1657878265_19.pngBy donating any amount to this crowdfunding campaign, you can help keep a child in school as we prepare to go to Togo this year. If you prefer to make physical donations such as stationaries, school bags, books, and many more, our doors are always available to receive them. We are also eager to work with potential volunteers and partners who would like to contribute to this worthy cause.
