Liam Jones was born with DMD (Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy) and was diagnosed before he was 3 years old. He lives a full life full of love with his Parents (Gareth and Trisha) and younger brother, Rhys.
But Liam is now 12 years old and sadly, his mobility has deteriorated faster in the last 2 years than expected. He was able to walk on his own 2 years ago but since the Covid restrictions, this meant he missed out on alot of his therapy appointments and he was not able to get out as much as before due to isolation relating to his health, and he now cannot walk unaided. He is in his wheelchair most of the time which he has outgrown rapidly in the last year. It is getting increasingly more difficult to get him into the car, into his bed, into the bath etc. He has lost most of his muscle support and relies heavily on his parents for support which leaves him feeling very frustrated. His Mum and Dad are the most wonderfully generous and selfless people you will ever meet and have devoted their lives to doing anything they possibly can to help Liam live a full and meaningful life, but with his mobility issues it has become difficult as he's grown from a young child into a young almost teenager!
DMD is a progressive disease for which there is no cure.

The Jones family are like family to us and we have decided that (with the blessing from Gareth and Trisha) we would like to round up the troops and raise some of the money needed to help buy Liam 6 bits of vital machinery to help make his life easier and increase his independent mobility.
1. Rogue XP manual wheelchair
2. Q300 mini power wheelchair
3. A Tri-Ride - this is a gaget that connects to his manual wheelchair to allow for outside movement on uneven surfaces.
4. An electric standing (evolve easystand) which will allow him to be upright for blood circulation and digestion and also allow him to reach places normally out of his reach.
5. A specially designed chair (smithwaite indigo) to support him for schoolwork that is mobile, supportive and can move up and down depending on the subject he is doing (Maths, DT etc).
6. A specially customised electric car seat (braunability turny evo) to allow him to get out of the car unaided for easy transfer into his wheelchair.
Those who know the Jones Family know how much they have done and continue to do for others and we hope we can give back to them just a snippet of the wonderful things they have done for others in their lives.
