Our members would like to create a warm, inclusive environment for the community of Gosport to make friends & have fun playing board games.

Who are we?

Level Up Gosport supports young people with additional needs, aged between 18 - 25, by helping the local community via volunteering & work experience programmes.

We carry out various activities to raise awareness, whilst encouraging the young people to simultaneously "level up" and gain employability skills that enable them to move on into employment.

Our charity's philosophy is, that no matter what the circumstances a young person faces, they are of value, have a purpose and deserve a chance to shine.

Community impact

Level Up Gosport (LUPG) has been established for almost 12 years and has developed an excellent reputation within in the local community and is very proud to announce that 80% of the vulnerable young people it supports have gone on to secure sustained p/t or f/t employment.

Previously, LUPG was known as Loud and Proud and came under the umbrella of the charity Gosport Voluntary Action. However, in 2022, the trustees voted to establish Loud and Proud in its own right and constitute as an independent charity/CIO under the name of Level Up Gosport.  This has been approved and our charity number is: 1199682

The majority of the young adults (members) that LUPG supports have an additional need or a mild learning or physical (hidden, neurodivergent) disability; or have mental health issues, like lacking in confidence or high anxiety levels.

Why are we crowdfunding?

The young people would like to arrange a number of FREE board-gaming evenings, with refreshments, at Thorngate Halls, to encourage the local community to come along and participate in fun, intergenerational, family-orientated sessions that will have a lot of benefit for all participating: 1. Board game playing increases brain function; 2. It brings laughter and decreases stress (laughter it’s like a “side effect” of board game playing, and it is one of the vital ingredients for creativity, and in general helps to decrease stress), and 3. Board game playing creates more happiness.

How we’ll spend the money raised

Hire of Thorngate Halls (2 hrs x 6);

Free refreshments (£35 {£1.50 per head} x 6 sessions);

Purchase of a variety of board games x 20 at (approximately) £20 per game;

Admin materials to gather feedback on the sessions and decide if this concept is wanted, well attended and enjoyed, plus what could be improved;

Expert board gaming facilitator to oversee sessions (6 x 2 hrs x £15 per hour).

Grant Total: £1,125.00
