 New stretch target

Thank you! Your amazing response took our publication to its £3000 target in FIRST 5 DAYS of this crowdfunding!! Goes to show how important this project might be. The book is close to completion and will be ready to go to our publisher in August.

Help us reach our stretch target of £5000 so that we can do a little more. Anything above our initial publishing £3K target will go towards running a 'House of Survivors' conference with some book contributors as speakers. We aim to invite members from the House of Bishops and House of Laity from Synod. All donors, as previously, will be listed in the back of the book - unless anonymous.

Again, thank you everyone.

Letters to a Broken Church is out soon.

It took longer than we thought to get the book legalled. The book will be published in early July 2019

Length: approx. 220 pages. Price: £12.99

Details of advance orders will be available soon on this website:

https://brokenchurchletters.wordpress.com/

Thank you everyone for your patience and generosity in bringing this book to publication. All our donors will be listed at the back of the book, including each anonymous donor as 'Anonymous'.

It will not be the only book we hope addressing this crisis - there need to be many more - but it will be a signifiant contribution which will hopefully encourage others to crowdfund similar projects. The church needs to hear direct from survivors and allies about its culture and structure and the impact they have on us.

I end this update with a message under the radar from a senior cleric, an archdeacon. “I wish it had been different for you and all the others. I pray it will be different in the future but I also know that is unlikely while the church denies, colludes and worries about its reputation.”

We are seeking £3000 to publish a dynamic collaborative book speaking to the Church of England's abuse crisis. Contributors include survivors, academics, theologians, commentators, lawyers, leading church figures.

Funding breakdown: £1000 publishing costs,  £1300 publicity, £700 Kindle & fees = £3000 Total

Any profits will go to MACSAS (Minister and Clergy Sexual Abuse Survivors). No contributor is being paid. We are offering the work in the hope of seeing meaningful and critical change in the Church of England’s pastoral, structural, and psychological response to victims and survivors of abuse.

The book will include a wide variety of themes, with some stories and interviews. It will also feature some real letters sent to Lambeth Palace, House of Bishops, and Synod during the past few years.

Contributors include Jo Kind, Gilo, Matt Ineson, Janet Fife, Jayne Ozanne, Dr Linda Woodhead, Graham Sawyer, Dr Martyn Percy, Bishop Alan Wilson, Stephen Parsons, Rosie Harper, Simon Barrow, Martin Sewell, Richard Scorer, David Greenwood, Ian Elliott, Dr Adrian Hilton, Peter Hitchens, Andrew Graystone, Josephine Stein, Rupert Bursell, Janet Lord, and others.

Some of these names won’t be familiar to many – but to anyone with an understanding of abuse in Church of England context this represents a recognisable though not comprehensive line-up of writers in this field.

The book will be published by Ekklesia http://www.ekklesia.co.uk/ and edited by Janet Fife and Gilo with help from Simon Barrow our publisher. Your donations will be sent to the publisher who has kindly agreed to manage the project.

Everyone who donates £3 or more will be credited in the back of the book. If you'd like to donate without being named - please donate anonymouslyIinterest in this project and generosity towards it exceeds our target – surplus will go towards a ‘House of Survivors’ conference workshop with some of the contributors as guest speakers. We'd hope to invite some members from the House of Bishops and House of Laity and other Synod members to take part in this.

Thank you for any help you can give to make this book happen.
