Aim

Help bring to life a voice-led album blending folk, rock, soul and jazz — songs of hope, courage, love and awakening.

My name is Ilario Ferrari. I am an Italian-born musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in the UK.

For many years, I have created music that moves between jazz, song, improvisation, storytelling and collaboration. My new album, Letters from Myself, feels like the most personal and ambitious project I have made so far.

The concept behind the album is a collection of songs imagined as musical letters written to the self across time — to and from the child I was, the person I am becoming, and the future wiser self. These songs are about hope, courage, memory, love, awareness, and the quiet strength we sometimes need in order to keep walking.

Musically, Letters from Myself is centred around the human voice, surrounded by guitar, piano, electric bass, drums, backing vocals and guest artists. It sits somewhere between folk, rock and soul, with traces of jazz and the spirit of improvisation — though perhaps the most honest way to describe the genre is simply: Ilario.

In June 2026, I travelled to Wales with a wonderful team of musicians and creative collaborators to record the foundations of the album. The week became one of the most special recording experiences of my life. Something deeply human was captured in that room: real listening, smiles, friendship, musicianship, and the shared energy of people creating together with care.

The album has its heart in the UK, while also including collaborations with artists from different countries and musical worlds, including India and Italy.

This is not music made alone on a screen. It is a human-made record, created through collaboration, presence, craft, and the irreplaceable magic of people making music together in a room.

The vision is to make an album that can move hearts: songs that encourage, uplift and awaken something in the listener. I want this music to reach people who may need a reminder that they are not alone, that their unique journey matters, and that even through uncertainty, there is still beauty and light ahead.

The money raised through this campaign will help fund the next essential stages of the album: editing, additional production, mixing, mastering, artwork, video content, paying the artists and collaborators involved, promotion and release. It will help us take what we captured in Wales and carry it into the world with the care, quality and reach it deserves.

By supporting this campaign, you are not only helping me finish an album. You are becoming part of the journey of Letters from Myself — helping these songs travel from the studio into the lives of the people they were written for.

This project is also a way of supporting the work of the many musicians and collaborators involved in bringing the album to life. Some of the confirmed team so far includes:
