All or nothing
This project needs 100% of its target
Aim: Our PTA brings the school community together. We want to continue to share with everyone, the importance of sport and physical activity.
In 2023, our PTA were successful in the first cohort of our Sport NI Crowdfunder project.
It was such a huge success and we want to be able to continue promoting sport and physical activity to all our wonderful pupils from Nursery to P7.
We have been able to offer pupils of all ages (4 to 11) the chance to stay after school and be introduced to and participate in a wide variety of sports including hockey, rugby, football netball and cricket. The money will enable us to provide coaches to run after school sports clubs, as well as activities during school which promote physical and sporting activity.
Our school is in a rural location, there are limited sports or after school activities close by and at an affordable price proving impossible for a lot of the children within our school community to attend after school sports. The project will offer our rural kids of all abilities from 4 years old the opportunity to stay after school several days per week and be introduced to new sports.
Our aim is to continue to increase participation in a variety of sports to increase physical activity and improve mental health and allow children to socialise and have fun with children, helping develop resilience, build confidence, promote problem solving skills and a sense of belonging, as children play sport in a familiar, safe environment. The project will have a lasting legacy as children will be in the routine of playing sport after school from a young age, we will have qualified coaches within our school community and we will have equipment to allow the children to remain active after the project.
In order to achieve our aim fully, we hope to invest in school staff coaching. This can bring skills to our community and be shared among others. Staff will avail of coaching locally themselves and be able to use skills in a wide range of sporting activities, here in the community and in other local schools and venues.
The PTA, Governors, staff and parents within the school community appreciate this investment in sport and physical activity and know it will be a positive for all included.
We plan to use the power of sport to improve overall health and well-being, playing sport competitively or learning a new physical skill. It will be inclusive to all and we look forward to sharing with all involved.
