Let's get Oscar's smile back

Aim

In a brutal and unprovoked attack, Oscar lost 2 teeth, fractured his jaw and is at high risk of losing 2 more teeth.

I am writing this on behalf of my boyfriend Oscar. Oscar is a kind, hardworking, and loving person, devoted to his friends and family. He raises money for charity and helps people whenever he can. Oscar was away with friends on a holiday in Portugal where he was brutally assaulted by an older man while trying to prevent someone else being hurt. During this unprovoked attack Oscar lost two teeth and a large portion of bone with it as well as fracturing his jaw with two teeth pushed way back into his mouth hanging from the broken bone. 

After a desperate attempt to get help in Portugal he flew home to try and get better treatment, where he was referred for emergency surgery at Bristol Royal Infirmary.  The doctors and surgeons at the BRI worked hard to save what they can of his bone, however they told him the treatment he really needs is not available on the NHS. For any chance at a full recovery Oscar will need multiple surgeries, a bone graft and if all is successful, dental implants to replace his smile. 

In spite of going to the police in Portugal and witness statements the aggressor has not being caught, therefore he has little to no hope of getting compensation to help afford treatment. We have struggled to get the Portuguese police to take this seriously, which is heartbreaking as this man is violent and dangerous and has dramatically and horribly altered Oscars life. 

As the necessary treatment is not available on the NHS, Oscar and his family are now looking at a £10500 fee. Even though Oscar has good travel insurance it only covers 1k for dental treatment. Oscars mental health is at an extreme low point and he is traumatised by the violence and the far reaching implications it is now having on his life. Oscar has a job he loves and is passionate about, he wants to get back to living his life, he is a young man that just graduated a year ago, he didn't deserve this and we need your support! I understand this is optimistic and I'm unlikely to get the whole figure. But it's a desperate situation and this is the full amount needed in order to have hope of returning back to who he was before this traumatic event.
