Aim
🏐 Help fund Chelsea Handball Club! Support low-income players & voluntee, keep handball fun, inclusive & open to all in West London!
Who are we?
Chelsea Handball Club is a fun, inclusive, volunteer-run grassroots club based in West London. Since launching in 2015, they’ve grown from just 20 members to over 120 across 9 junior & senior (boys & girls, men & women) teams - becoming the fastest and sustainably growing handball club in England in the past 5 years, recognised:
- for our inclusivity by Sport England in their Buddle community sports platform:
- for our overall club performance by England Handball, awarding us the Club of the Season 2024/25 for England.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Handball is a developing indoor sports in the UK, with significant potential in making teams sport inclusive to all age groups & genders. It’s fast-paced, skilful, and brilliant for building teamwork, confidence, and physical fitness. Click on the image below to hear Jakob, a parent and volunteer, speak about these benefits.
At Chelsea Handball, we:
- Provide access to handball for over 120 players across all age-groups and genders, strengthening friendships and social bonds, offering invaluable community within our locality. Click on the picture below to hear a few views from our juniors!
- Train multiple times a week in community sports halls, and participate in national competitions and leagues of England Handball, in a manner that provides purpose and goal setting that is manageable and beneficial, both for physical and mental health
- Are fully managed by volunteers, in a manner that effectively blends openess and inclusivity, within a competitive teams sport, while at the same time, offers opportunity to our people to build leadership, management, communication & collaboration skills
- Are passionate about promoting the growth of the handball sport in England, actively working together with England Handball
But as we grow, so do our costs. Your donation will help us maintain our membership fees at an appropriate level that allow people to enter team sports, while at the same time:
- Reduce or eliminate membership fees for players from low-income households
- Cover volunteering expenses for learning & development, travel costs and kit
- Reduce the impact of rising venue costs, our largest financial burden
- Buy age-appropriate training equipment to support effective learning for our junior teams, and support them all the way to our national teams! Click on the image below to hear Kai speak about our juniors journey!
- Promote handball to schools and universities, ideally for free or for a limited cost, via mentoring PE teachers and organising after-school club - click on the image below to hear Louisa speak about the benefits of this.
- Campaign effectively to increase our community outreach, with the intent to increase participation of young people and women in team sport
With your help, we can level the playing field and make sure no one is priced out of this brilliant sport.
🎯 Our Goal
We’re aiming to raise £15,000 to support our player development fund — and if we raise £7500 of our overall target, Sport England will match it another £7500, actively recognising our impact and offering to further support our cause!
