Our aim is to provide a range of services to help people to improve their financial well-being in the new Letham Community Hub

 New stretch target

The chance to be part of the Aviva Cost of Living Boost would give us the chance to help even more people by reducing food insecurity and helping families stretch their budgets over this winter as the cost of living crisis is forcing people to choose between heat or eat. The extra funding would help support people using the Letham Community Fridge4All and Community Food shares through the worst of the winter.

Your support to develop our Financial Well-Being Project has been amazing and we will be able to take this work forward as planned and will be able to support our partners to an extent we didn't dare dream of.  The chance to be part of the Aviva Cost of Living Boost would give us the chance to help even more people by reducing food insecurity and helping families stretch their budgets over this winter as the cost of living crisis is forcing people to choose between heat or eat.

Currently, we are running our Letham Community Fridge4All Project, which is a food waste reduction project, where we prevent good surplus food from going to landfill. We currently run the Letham Community Fridge4All 7 days a week and we also distribute food to 3 other Community Food Shares in Perth. We also offer low-cost cupboard staples, as a kind of social supermarket, along with toiletries and share items that have been donated to us. We believe that we are supporting around 300 people a week to help reduce food waste and stretch their budgets and because of the current cost of living crisis the demand for this project is growing rapidly.

Any additional funding raised through Aviva Cost of Living Boost would enable us to help to support families in our community to manage and stretch their budgets and help prevent the need to choose heating or eating by enabling them to access free and low-cost foods.

About our Financial Well-Being Project

We have heard their concerns and worries about the cost of living crisis and we believe that we could expand support to them by developing our Financial Well-Being Project to offer people guidance and advice in these difficult times. We are working with Perth and Kinross Credit Union to raise awareness about ethical banking and open an outreach branch of the credit union in our new Community Hub and we hope this can offer people a real alternative to expensive payday loans, help people who find it difficult to open a bank account and a chance to improve their credit rating.

We will also be able to offer people a safe and confidential place in the new Letham Community Hub for people to access guidance and advice to help them look at how they manage their budgets and ways to improve their financial well-being, offer information to help them save money and energy and signpost them to ensure they are accessing all the supports they are entitled too.

We believe by doing this Letham4All will be able to help our community through these hard times and help people understand they are not alone, we all have the cost of living crisis in common, no one is unaffected, but working together will help us get through it.
