We crowdfunded for a air quality report at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/tttreport now we are funding legal arguments

 New stretch target

This extra funding is to produce legal arguments to stop the Tesco Toxic Towers on climate change grounds.

We seek to raise £1200 to produce legal arguments to object to what our campaign terms "Tesco toxic Towers". Ruchi Parekh, a barrister at Cornerstone Barristers has offered to examine and produce arguments for the following possible objections.

1) Air quality: building on the the air quality report we purchased recently which featured in the Ilford Recorder HERE and has been sent to the council. This includes additional traffic congestion caused by the development. This is a cost of £420. The air report is at REPORT

 2) Climate change: The Heathrow judgement found that Paris agreement benchmarks missing from the Heathrow application led to the airport expansion being refused. Ruchi will examine whether this judgement is helpful to our campaign. The Tesco application appears to have no calculation at all as to the amount of CO2 to be emitted by the construction of the high-rise Towers, nor does there appear to be any calculation of the additional CO emitted by mechanical ventilation and the lifts at the Towers. This is a cost of £350 plus VAT

 3) Cumulative over development. There are two other major developments at planning stage, a site previously used by Homebase and a council owned car park, plus other developments. This is at a cost of £150 plus VAT

 4) Light & privacy - The towers will cause light pollution and over look gardens. This is at a cost of £150 plus VAT.

We know during a recession money is tight so many people will not be able to to donate at all. However the court of public opinion is just as important as the legal arguments in front of councillors on the night. If you can can join the 200 people on our our WhatsApp group,   put up a poster or write to councillors, it would be very helpful. Any questions I am on [email protected]

We will crowdfund in 4 stages, I have paid the £420 up front and hope to get reclaim some back, I have started the fund with £21, 5% of the total cost.
