We need help to fund our fight in our ongoing court case. Our landlord wants to close the doors of the institution Borscht n Tears forever.

Dear friends,

In 1965, on Beauchamp Place, a restaurant was opened by a war refugee from East Europe where the smell of borscht filled the air, music played, and people felt at home. This was the beginning of Borscht & Tears.

For immigrants, we became a little island of home: a place to hear familiar songs, taste childhood flavours, and feel the warmth that was missing in a foreign country. For Londoners, the restaurant opened the door to new flavours of far away lands and an electric atmosphere where strangers sat at the same table, laughed, fell in love, and grew closer.

Over the decades, our home has welcomed The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Boris Becker, Alla Pugacheva, hosted Royalty, and seen countless artists and musicians. We also nurtured talents like Anthony Worrall Thompson, Tommy Eytle, Dennis Waterman & countless others.

But our most treasured guests have always been you: 

Generation after generation of families & friends, for whom Borscht & Tears has become part of life.

For 60 years, we’ve stood strong through crises and challenges to keep this institution alive.

💔 Now all of this is under threat.

Today we face the hardest trial in our history:

Our landlord, a notorious 60-year-old Cypriot billionaire, based in Monaco, is trying to close the restaurant down, using nefarious techniques, and erase 60 years of history, memories & community. 

🙏 We urgently need to raise funds for our on going court case fighting to stop the landlord.
