To pay solicitor and barrister fees for preparation of the MPTS hearing and appeal in the High Court, plus High Court fee
The GMC failed to properly investigate a false allegation by a patient in October 2013. The MDU dropped me in January 2016. I then had bills for a solicitor and barriser to prepare for the MPTS hearing in October 2016. I represented myself at the hearing, which continued until February 2017. The panel cleared me of all allegations made by the patient saying that 'none of her evidence was reliable'. However they then decided I had been dishonest in matters to do with the Conditions which had been put on my registration during the investigation. They decided to erase me from the medical register, which resulted in me losing my job as a lecturer at a high status university. In July 2017 my appeal was heard in the High Court. The judgement, announced in October was won on two counts! The GMC were ordered to restore my registration immediately and pay most of my costs.
For most of the last 4 years I have been unemployed because of the investigation and Conditions. I have no money available to pay my bills. I have had to go to the courts to have my debts dealt with by an IVA.
