BROTHERS IN MOTION will be a collaborative celebration of all things male dance. From the tiniest of grass roots groovers to the most passionate of professionals, this Nationwide project brings together boys and young men to recognise the last 10 years of progress.
By aligning our one goal, to promote positivity and equality in a world where stigma and prejudice still rears its uninvited head, we aim to inspire and motivate not only male dancers of all ages but audiences alike, to celebrate breaking barriers and creating excellence with and for young people.
Overview
After a decade of creative and company development - LEGACY Dance Company UK has grown to become one of the leading providers of grass roots male dance training in the UK. With 100 boys and young men walking through the door to train every Saturday, no matter their socioeconomic standing or accessibility needs. And with numerous alumni who have progressed (some against the odds) onto Vocational training and into the professional industry, we work tirelessly to engage, support, promote and inspire boys from not only our region but as far as our reach can stretch around the country.

What is BROTHERS IN MOTION about and who is involved?
Over the years we have shared our learnings with colleagues and groups who have a passion for supporting and teaching boys dance. We've collaborated with Vocational colleges and International companies to create quality, artistic work and now we want to bring all of this together in a vibrant and exciting national celebratory project.
Alongside LEGACY Alumni, groups from all over the country will join us at the Norfolk Showground on 30th May to connect the dedicated people who support lads dance in their own corner of the world, but feel detached and isolated from others representing the same cause.

By identifying and nurturing relationships with other male dance groups and companies, some already established and some relatively new - we aim to support them where needed in creating new pieces of work and travelling to Norfolk to take part in a jubilant performance as one large company!
Alongside the grass roots performers, as a full inspirational circle - the performance will include young men from some of the top Vocational Colleges in the UK as well as industry professionals who may have graduated from LEGACY over the past 10 years, or have in some way connected with the company via workshops, outreach or projects.

Why are we asking for funding?
We see first hand how vital it is for these boys to have visual role models.
This gala show is an important opportunity for more boys who may be in more isolated environments due to geographical location, lack of provision, or societal perceptions to experience this inspirational opportunity. By bringing it all together, they see not only boys like them but also those who have gone before them, enabling them to see what they too could aspire to.
Another barrier LEGACY have always faced as a not-for-profit company is the cost of travelling to events. This is why as part of the outreach support, we will not only offer creative and technical guidance, but also provide a bursary for group travel to enable those who would not otherwise be able to fund the journey to participate. This project is all about connecting like minded boys and young men who often feel alone and persecuted just for doing something creative that they love.
How will my donation be spent?
We fully appreciate that times are tough for everyone, but even small donations will all add up. We will generate income from ticket sales to go towards the cost of the event, but the Norfolk Showground comes as a completely empty space, so we will have to build a theatrical wonderland inside it!

• Staging & Seating
• Sound, Lights and Projection
• Travel Bursary for Visiting Groups
• Venue Hire
• Contribution to Freelancer fees, at a fair and industry standard rate
• Safeguarding Facilities
• Costumes for students
