Leek ACFC Disability Football - Fresh Start

Aim

Our aims are to raise funds to be able to begin again with our new Disability Football Team.

We are Leek ACFC, a football team run for the benefit of people with disabilities of all ages. Leek ACFC is based in North Staffordshire, on the edge of the Peak District in England. We have been involved with a team for the last 10 years, experiencing a lot of success being the first disability team to play an all-female team, the first team to win a “the Double”, our coach winning the “grass roots coach of the year” and our management team winning the Support Staffordshire “Volunteer Team of the Year” award. Over the years, we have supported 10 of our players in becoming Level 1 Football association coaches and referees.

Sadly, it has come to pass that our previous team could no longer continue, so we will have to begin again from scratch, with limited funds and equipment, but our beliefs that “All Abilities Counts” will follow with us, as it has done for the last 10 years. The current players and managers, who we knew from the old team, will follow us into our new beginning. Sessions and games have been organised by the managers to ensure that the well being of our players are maintained, but official FA games cannot be made until we have secured an affiliation with a new organisation.

With this new start, we are looking into rebranding the team. We also need funding for league fees, affiliation fees, insurance, transportation, equipment and more. Repurposing the retired kit will reduce costs and be environmentally friendly.

Help can come in many forms and places. A popular aid is for kit sponsor, where your name/company can be displayed onto the players and equipment where they will be seen all over the country. Additionally, direct donations to the group are also welcome, as any funding can be used in several ways to better equip the team and their managers. We are hoping to get back to our full strength of 3 teams of differing ability levels so no one will be excluded.

How you can play your part

There are three simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
