2025 marks the 5th anniversary of Leeds Roses IHC! We're hoping to raise enough for a 3rd team jersey & other essential training equipment.
Leeds Roses IHC was founded in 2020. From humble beginnings to a thriving club with juniors and adults, we’ve spent five incredible years building a female-focused, community driven hockey program right here in Leeds. Now entering our 5th anniversary season, ice hockey is becoming so popular in Leeds that we're expanding to enter a 'B' team - Leeds Thorns - into the league.

Ice hockey equipment is expensive, and in the UK, most women's hockey clubs are self-funded. We don't have an owner who can support us with new kit or equipment - all the girls have to buy their own protective kit and team jerseys, as well as pay for ice time and training. With the expansion of the club to incorporate a 2nd team, we need more training equipment and really want to do something special to celebrate our 5th season, and continue to help the growth of women's ice hockey in the city.
A number of our players are under 18 girls and/or students, so having some additional funding will allow the club to support them with purchasing equipment, and can help to reduce costs and fees.

1) We're hoping to buy a special 3rd jersey for all of the players to wear at away games, in celebration of our 5th anniversary as a club.
2) We would like a camera system to record training and to be able to stream games for our fans. This will also allow player development through game analysis.
3) We need additional equipment and resources for training, especially now that we have two teams training at the same time. Some of the money will also help to fund training for our volunteer coaching staff.
4) Any additional money can be used to fund transport to away games, reduce ice time fees, pay for match day referees, etc.
Being the only all-female club in the city, we want to raise the profile of women's sports and be role-models for all of the young girls out there who love ice hockey. We've already seen an increase in attendance at our home games with lots of young girls asking to come down to watch.

We've recently joined a partnership with the #HerGameToo movement's ice hockey division as well, which aims to promote fairness for women in sport. And now that the club is expanding, it opens up more opportunities for younger players to join the squad, develop their confidence and fitness, and grow into our future Leeds Roses.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!
2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.
3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
