 New stretch target

With additional funding we can  achieve the following:

1. Increase promotion of the event throughout South London with additional advertising and publicity distribution

2. Increase the number of bespoke events and activities taking place, such as walking tours and children's workshops

Arts Network is taking on the management of the wonderfully successful Lee Green Open Studio (LGOS).

Established in 1999 the Lee Green Open Studio is a visual arts programme featuring over 50 different visual artists and attracting 2,000 visitors over 2 weekends in November.

This year the open studio programme will take place on 11 & 12 and 18 & 19 November and as you can tell planning has already started!

Local residents and visitors to the area will have free access, over the two weekends, to a broad range of arts, most of which are available to purchase.  Artists include printmakers, photographers, painters, sculptors, ceramicists, textile artists, jewellers, mosaic artists and craftspeople.

Our aim is to increase awareness of the arts and artists in the immediate locality around where many of us live, and thus encourage interest and free participation in the arts.

For 2017 we are looking to introduce the following additional programme elements:

  • Exhibitions in the Leegate Centre
  • Arts Network project with Jessica Voorsanger

We are also looking at producing a new LGOS booklet and map, which will be circulated throughout the area.

The LGOS area

The Lee Green Open studio takes place between four locations:
Hither Green Train station
Lee Train station
The Leegate Centre
Manor Park Library

Artists can take part just outside this area (just outside)!

There will be brochures available in café, restaurants, pubs and public buildings throughout the area.

Getting there and around

The great thing about the Lee Green Open Studio is that it’s completely walkable. Just jump off the train at Hither Green or Lee and take in work by some of the best artists living in SE London. If trains aren’t your thing then you can use of the multitude of buses that serve the area (122 178, 261,202, 275, 321), or if you’re attached to the DLR get off at Lewisham and catch a bus, or walk 20 minutes along Lee High Road.
