Help us rebuild Beirut and support the victims of the August 2020 Explosion. Profits from every purchase are donated to NGO Beit el Baraka.
Prior to 2020's Beirut blast , Lebanon was already struggling with a three- dimensional crisis caused by an economic collapse, hyper-inflation and the Covid-19 pandemic. Just when we thought the situation couldn't get any worse, it did. Beirut was burned down, shattered to pieces, and buried under the rubbles. More than 230 people were left dead, 7'500 injured, over 300'000 homeless and hundreds of thousands traumatised and scarred until today.
As a Lebanese expat, the explosion of August 2020 shook me to the core. It was hard not being next to friends and family nor present on the ground to help with the local missions. With a passion for scent and candle making I wanted to dedicate my first project to the people of Beirut and help raise funds to support them. With help from the talented Daniela Abdo for label design and concept and the expert Ana Rico for label adaptation, this project came to life.
Layali Beirut - which translates to Beirut Nights - was born from a longing to be back home, a nostalgia to childhood memories and an ode to the beauty that is Lebanon. It celebrates the enchanting scent of Beirut with its warming amber and deep cedar wood aromas. Its aim is to add a glimmer of light and hope in every home while raising funds to rebuild the destroyed homes.
All profits from the sales will be donated to local NGO Beit El Baraka working directly with families affected by the Beirut explosion.
Beit el Baraka is a Lebanon-based charity and one of the first to set up emergency relief programs following the blast.Their mission is to provide aid and ensure dignity to hard working Lebanese citizens and children by assisting them in their struggle with the increasing cost of living. In the spirit of respect and support, they give them access to food, decent living, medical services and education.
