HELLO YOU! We’re bringing our short film LAVANDULA to life, and we need your help!

What is it about, I hear you cry?

LAVANDULA is a story about friendship at breaking point. Your ride or dies. The people who stick with you when sh*t truly hits the fan.
(Like when you get shot in the leg during a heist at a wedding… you know how it is.)

This is the FEELING behind the film:

Set in a vast, beautiful lavender field at the height of summer, the film follows Romy and Kat, on the run, out of time, and running out of options. One is bleeding. The other won’t stop talking. Sirens are closing in.

What unfolds is tense, absurd, and funny. A story about loyalty, survival, and the people we choose to stand beside… even when it might be a LOT easier not to.

Inspired by the offbeat violence of Fargo × the doomed devotion of Thelma & Louise × the dreamlike visual opulence of Big Fish.

We’re currently in pre-production and aiming to shoot June/July when the lavender is in full bloom. We already have an incredible team and a beautiful location and this is where YOU come in.

Your support (of any size) will go directly into production, post-production, and ensures the people making it are supported properly throughout the process. It will also help us give LAVANDULA a real life beyond the shoot including a strong and (hopefully) long festival run.

If you believe in bold storytelling, complex female characters, and independent film, we’d love you to be part of our journey!

And if you don’t believe in that… why?

Why this film?

At its core, this is a story about friendship, not the easy, polished version, but the messy, complicated, sometimes frustrating one. The kind where friendship isn’t always soft, loyalty doesn’t always make sense, and the people you love are actually sometimes kind of annoying.

In a world which is increasingly divided, turbulent and frankly, quite scary, we need films about the complexity that exists within our relationships, the way that deep bonds don't always go hand in hand with ease, we also (or at least I do) really really need to laugh.

As a working-class, neurodivergent, chronically ill writer, director, and actor, it’s also incredibly important to me to make films in a way that reflects the values I want to see in the industry.

That includes how films get made.

Independent filmmaking often relies on a lot of unpaid labour. We are committed to paying our cast and crew fairly for their time, energy, and talent,  even if that means moving more slowly, or asking for more support to get there.

Because the way something is made matters just as much as the final result!

And with LAVANDULA, we want to prove that you can make something bold, distinctive, and ambitious without compromising on that.

Where is your money going?

Every contribution helps us make this film to the standard it deserves, and ensures the people making it are properly supported in the process.

If we exceed our target…

What happens if we raise more than our goal, I hear you scream?

Firstly, we’ll be able to give LAVANDULA a longer and stronger life on the festival circuit.

Additional funds would allow us to invest further in post-production. This would include enhanced accessibility materials such as audio description and captioning. Not only will this help the film reach wider audiences and more festivals, but will removing access barriers to people accessing independent film.

If we’re lucky enough to significantly exceed our target, we would expand our crew to better support each department, ensuring a smoother and more sustainable production.

And finally, we’d be able to hire a stills photographer to capture the wider landscape, making the most of the beautiful countryside to create striking promotional materials for the film’s release.
