When a documentary crew are sucked into a world of crime cleaners, murder and pigs, presenter Simon Oiseau, feels like a powerless pawn trapped between 1 crime queen, 2 questionable cops and 3 badass assassins with no obvious escape. Will he choose his life or his film?
Last Rites is a satirical, light-hearted mockumentary in which we explore the world of Sarah and her ragtag friends, watching them dispose of dead bodies isn’t what Simon was expecting when he agreed to film them for the show: ‘Women in unconventional roles’. But one crime queen, two corrupt cops and 3 badass assassins later he’s finding himself IN a lot deeper than he thought he’d be.
Will he save Sarah and himself from the morality of their actions, or is this one mess that can’t be cleaned?
Inspired by fantastic mockumentaries such as What We Do In The Shadows and This Is Spinal Tap, Last Rites balances dark themes with humour and ridiculousness in an exploration of how far people in desperate situations are willing to go.
Hello there, do you like comedies about Cleaners? Gangs? And a whole lot of pigs? We thought so. Why else would you be here? Well, you’re in for a real treat. But perhaps you just stumbled upon this page, maybe you don’t like pigs or comedies, at all. Well, don’t worry, stick around anyway! Because you’ll soon see that this film is about so much more than that.
We’re Group One of NYFA (AKA Foam Finger Productions), welcome to our crowdfunding page, feel free to look around, share it with your friends, or donate some money. Whatever you decide to do, thank you for taking your time to read this message and find out a little about what we’ve been up to.
Unfortunately due to COVID-19 we haven’t been able to meet each other, but that hasn’t stopped us from creating a solid bond of friends and developing all of our skills, while learning from each other, and now you can join our journey too.
Here at Foam Finger Productions, what makes our group so special is that we believe every member of the team has something valuable to bring to the film and we strive to keep everyone involved in every step of the process and now, we want you to be a part of our group too!
The outright enthusiasm of every member has been the driving force behind our work so far, and the fact we are cutting no corners in creating the boldest film we can possibly make. A testament to this enthusiasm is that a dedicated portion of our planned budget will be going into the ambitious final scene of the film, which, we assure you, will be worth it, and yes, it may involve pigs, lots of them.
Even the smallest donation, share or social media shout out will make all this enthusiasm worth it, and bring a group of talented filmmakers and actors, and now fine friends, closer to achieving their dreams.
So, let’s get down to brass tacks.
What makes us worthy of your donation?
Think of your donation as an investment in creating a better world. You wouldn’t invest in a company if you didn’t have confidence in that company’s ability to create value.
By investing in this film, you are helping us create a better world in 3 vital ways:
The National Youth Film Academy has put together some of the UK’s best and brightest upcoming filmmakers to collaborate on this project, your donations will not only be appreciated, but remembered as this film will serve as a launchpad for many future collaborations.
We will also be submitting this film to as many festivals as we can. Having already qualified for Raindance, this also gives us access to submit our film to the Baftas and Oscars, so join the movement and help make our (that includes you!) film a success!
Our main priority is to make this film the best version of itself, your donations will go a very long way in making our dream a reality, by insuring that we do this film justice.
Due to the ongoing COVID19 crisis, we will have to take several costly measures to ensure our set and our crew are safe and your contribution will help make sure that our cast and crews wellbeing is at the top of our priorities, so that we can make a film that does not compromise on production design quality or health & safety.
5% of our total budget will be donated to Halfpenny Animal Sanctuary. This sanctuary is a truly amazing place that takes in animals and makes sure they are cared for and are living in the correct habitat. Please make sure to check them out and the amazing work they do! They've also been kind enough to help us deliver our featured £75 perk : )
This film is an ensemble piece, take a look at some of our awesome cast! We'll be releasing more soon on our social medias so keep an eye on those spaces : )
Here is an estimated overview of how we plan on spending the money that is raised. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you have any questions and we really appreciate your support : )
We need a total of £9000 raised to do this film as effective and efficiently as possible, which we will be raising in two instalments. The first target being £5000 and our stretch target being an additional £4000.
(H&S costs are part of production value)
