Interfaith Scotland aims to raise £5000 for Laptops to support the education of children on the island of Tuvalu, impacted by climate crisis
The Interfaith Scotland Year of Climate Action reached a climax during COP26. During COP (November) we were honoured to meet with a representative from the Pacific Island of Tuvalu and learnt how the climate crisis was having devastating impacts on their small island nation. Maina informed us that critical to the island’s on-going survival was the education of their young people and that a simple but effective contribution to the island would be to fund-raise for educational laptops for the small school there, Fetuvalu High School. Interfaith Scotland has committed to fund-raise for 7 - 10 laptops.
'Due to the devastating effect of Covid-19 coupled with the climate crisis, we find it very challenging for our small atoll nation. Our ability to cope with online learning is a significant challenge. The shift from face-to-face learning to a virtual platform requires stable internet connectivity and a small computer lab for year 11 and 12. We pray that the people of Scotland could assist our students by helping us procure laptops for their on-going education.'
