I am an Ethiopian community development project founder currently living in the UK, with a long-term commitment to improving rural livelihoods in Ethiopia. Together with our local team and association members in Ethiopia, we have worked for many years to establish an olive-growing project. We have already planted approximately 3,000 olive trees, and the trees are now producing fruit.
Our vision is to develop these existing trees into a sustainable olive farming and olive oil production project that creates employment, supports local farmers and generates long-term income for rural communities. We want to expand our nursery and olive plantations, improve irrigation and water access, and eventually process our olives into high-quality olive oil for Ethiopian and international markets.
The money we raise will be used carefully for practical needs that will allow the project to grow. These include water pumps, irrigation pipes, water infrastructure, a generator, farming tools, motorbikes and a suitable vehicle for transporting people, equipment and olives. We also need computers for administration, communication, financial records and reporting, as well as olive oil processing equipment.
Our long-term goal is not simply to grow olives. We want to build a sustainable community-based project where income from olive oil sales can be reinvested into the community. This will help local farmers access irrigation, clean water, agricultural equipment and training, while creating opportunities for young people and women.
We are currently seeking support from people around the world who believe in sustainable agriculture, rural development and community empowerment. Every contribution will help us build on the 3,000 trees we have already planted and move closer to our vision of creating a self-sustaining project that can benefit rural Ethiopian communities for generati
ons.
