We're still collecting donations
On the 20th February 2023 we'd raised £30,189 with 157 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We want to expand our work to the South of the City and Rushcliffe area. Help us make our new Lady Bay Hub a success.

On the 20th February 2023 we'd raised £30,189 with 157 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We want to grow our network and reach across Nottinghamshire. Additional funding will help us to source our next location and start the journey towards a third site. We are also looking to purchase a vehicle to solve our logistical issues around bike collections and pop up sales.
Nottingham Bikeworks is a not-for-profit community organisation based in the heart of Nottingham City. We recycle bikes and parts, provide services to cyclists, share knowledge and provide community support. Bikes are an affordable, healthy and sustainable way to travel. We believe that everyone should have access to cycling and be able to learn the skills to look after their own bikes.
Since we were founded in 2013, we’ve given a new lease of life to over 3,000 donated bikes and accepted countless accessories and spares for recycling and re-use. We’ve provided free bikes to over 1,000 people in need of transport and equipped over 600 people with the skills and knowledge to look after their own bikes. We build self-reliance and encourage skill sharing.
We’re a community resource and provider for all sorts of cycling activities. Our outreach activities reach hundreds of people in our local community each year, encouraging them to start cycling or supporting them to carry on cycling. We have strong connections with dozens of community partners and work with them to achieve our mutual aims of supporting access to cycling and improving the health and wellbeing of people in our local community.
We are proud to support people facing challenges, giving them the opportunity to build their own bike and learn how to maintain it. A bike is more than just a low-cost way of getting around, it opens the door to lots of opportunities.
A key aim of our organisation is to recycle bikes and get them back on the road. We are extremely grateful to the people of Nottinghamshire who donate their bikes for us to repurpose. Donated bikes are refurbished and used in our community work or sold on to generate income to support our projects. Even if I bike is not viable to refurbish we strip the parts for use on other bikes and ensure any metals or other recyclable materials are saved from landfill. We also recycle all our waste tyres and inner tubes.
We generate 61% of our income through our bike shop which offers refurbished bikes and accessories for sale and affordable bike servicing.
We also deliver cycling related contracts for organisations such as local businesses, universities, and councils.
We receive support from local and national grant giving bodies who issue funds on application to support specific projects.
Our new Lady Bay Hub will be in the centre of the neighbourhood on Trent Boulevard. We will use it as a base from which we will be able to reach potential beneficiaries in the south of Nottingham and the Rushcliffe area.
Following our launch, we will introduce our Free Fixing Friday project to the new hub. This project delivers free repair slots to local people who would not be otherwise able to have their bike repaired due to financial or social barriers.
Access to our free bike provision projects for groups such as refugees and young people in care will swiftly follow. As will the ability for local people to engage in volunteering, cycle rides and improve their own skills through training courses.
In addition to being a vital community hub, our Lady Bay site will also be staffed by our experienced and qualified mechanics. They will be offering all that a customer could ever expect from a high quality local independent cycle shop. Giving customers a great service and the satisfaction of knowing the money they are investing in their bike will be reinvested back in to their local community.
Setting up a new site for an organisation like ourselves is a challenge. We are a small team without large finances to prime a project and get it on its feet and self sustaining without some support. By pledging to this project and getting involved through the rewards available you will be enabling us to cover costs such as:
There are a few simple ways to help us reach our target, and create a new community cycle hub and workshop In Lady Bay:

3. Offer rewards yourself. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!
