Hi, I'm Joe, your Labour candidate for West Shoebury ward in the May 2021 elections! Labour has been making huge gains across Southend over the past few years, and I'm convinced with enough hard work, we can bring the change West Shoebury deserves!
The Council has made a significant impact in delivering basic services efficiently whilst responding to the Covid pandemic by supporting the health and well-being of our local community via practical action and up to date information. For twenty years, West Shoebury has switched hands between the Conservatives and UKIP, and they have left it one of the most neglected parts of Southend. Southend Labour members have been delivering care packages of food, medicine, and other household items to those isolating. As a more rural area and having a lower population than most, the ward has often been overlooked in decision making surrounding investment and services.
As a Labour ward Councillor, I will be your voice in the council chamber. I will work with Southend Borough Council to keep to our 2030 net-zero carbon target, and put emphasis on local agriculture; an industry that will become all the more relevant now we've left the EU.
I am eager to be your councillor, together we can end twenty years of neglect!
