Aim
Labour Launchpad is a new paid internship to help elect a Labour MP and give the next generation the skills to change their world.
I need your help.
Applications have just closed for Labour Launchpad, an exciting new paid internship programme for Scotland’s next generation of activists. These are the people who, if we train them right, will help kick the Tories out of Downing St, make Midlothian a Labour gain and be part of securing Labour victories long into the future.
Midlothian desperately needs a Labour MP so we can build a country with good green jobs and where talent – not class – determines what happens in the classroom. A future where we see growth not just in our economy but in our ambitions – where we deliver change so that no child is hungry, no family is cold and each generation does better than the last. That change is coming but we need to make sure we have skilled, inspired leaders ready to sustain it for the decades to come. That's where Labour Launchpad comes in.
Thanks to the generosity of some early donors I’m in the position to offer someone the opportunity to have eight weeks of intensive political development through a mix of on the job learning and structured political education with some of the country’s top experts in policy, communications and organising. We can build a community campaign from the ground up.
But from the applications we’ve had I can see just how much untapped potential there is out there. There are amazing emerging leaders I’m going to have to turn down.
A very generous friend I explained this to has already come forward to say they are willing to match fund anything I can raise through crowd-funding, up to £2000. That means every pound you give today unlocks the same again and we can open up the programme to more participants.
I’m asking for your help because I know these applicants have so much to contribute. Because I don't want to knock them back when their political journey is just beginning. Because helping people realise the power they have to change the world is the reason so many of us get out of bed. This generation of young people wants to change their world. Let's help them get started.

Donations to a political party are regulated by the Political Parties Elections and Referendums Act 2000. By making a donation to this campaign, you are accepting the following terms and conditions:
- I am donating to the Midlothian North and Musselburgh Constituency Labour Party.
- If I donate more than £500, checks will be made to ensure my name is listed on the UK electoral register (excluding the Channel Islands and Isle of Man).
- If I donate more than £1,500 to a Constituency Labour Party or more than £7,500 to the national Labour Party in a calendar year, my name and the amount of the donation will be published on the Electoral Commission's website, although my home address will not be made public.
- I must use my own funds to make a donation to the Labour Party.
- Donations are not tax-deductible.
