Global political turmoil has hit Labour Behind the Label’s work hard. Catastrophic global development cuts have impacted our international projects and we urgently need to raise funds to continue to fight for justice alongside garment workers, and stand up to global fashion brands.
As an organisation, we have always been clear and determined to take no money from the fashion industry. We are struggling to fill a funding gap and keep some of our dedicated staff, who are fighting for worker rights and to build worker power in supply chains.
The strength of our movement is that it is powered by people, not by corporate interests. Garment workers will not be silenced, and neither will we be stopped from fighting alongside them. To do this, we need you – to donate, to share, and to spread the word with your networks.
Around the world, fascism and authoritarianism are on the rise, driven by fear, division, and misunderstanding. At the root of the issues we face globally, is a lack of active global connection, where people are being fed misinformation which encourages small world thinking. In this environment, it’s more important than ever that we build solidarity and links across borders, between workers and consumers, to push back against exploitation. This fight needs more organisations like ours, not fewer.
Our work is critical. Without it, worker voices in supply chains go unheard, and the exploitation in the garment industry continues unchecked.

About Labour Behind the Label (LBL)
Labour Behind the Label is a campaign that works to improve conditions and empower workers in the global garment industry. LBL supports garment workers' efforts worldwide in improving working conditions, wages, and ensuring basic rights are respected. It does this through solidarity with workers, trade unions and NGOs in producer countries; lobbying of retailers and brands; promoting direct action; and the research of legal possibilities for improving conditions. Although small, we make a big impact.
Founded in 2001, LBL is the only UK campaign group that focuses exclusively on labour rights in the global garment industry. We represent the Clean Clothes Campaign in the UK and work with over 250 partner organisations worldwide through this network.
