Aim
We need help to raise money to bring an exciting bar concept to the Burley & Kirkstall area, right inside Kulture!
From a passion that was first sparked while working in a café on Manly Beach in Sydney, to our very first café-roastery on Kirkstall Road. Kulture Coffee is a young, independent, speciality coffee shop. We're in our second year at our Kirkstall Road HQ and it's been a challenging, yet utterly amazing journey so far. The support we have received from you guys has been nothing short of exceptional. The mornings spent talking, laughing and getting to know our customers has been the reason why we love doing what we do.
We want to go a step further now, and bring something special to our evenings. We are creating a bar concept, which we feel, the area is really missing. We're bringing in a selection of draught & craft beers, premium spirits and most importantly, an array of cocktails, with a commitment to keep to our coffee roots.
Myself and Jonathan have mixology experience of over 15 years combined, and we are stoked to be creating a cocktail menu that's all our own. And we need your help!
Our Plan
We will be creating a new evening offering, centred around cocktails, coffee and beer. We plan on having a cocktail menu with around 15 cocktails. We'll be on a mission to have some of the best coffee based cocktails around, and be able to offer them in decaf versions too, so you can sip them to your hearts content, without worrying about not being able to sleep afterwards.
The keg system will give us 4 keg beer lines, which gives us a decent selection of good craft beers, including our own branded lager! Initially we'll be opening Thursdays through to Sundays and alcohol will be served from 4pm. We'd like to change up our food offering in the evenings, and this is still in the development. So keep your eyes peeled on our socials for those!
Our plan is to then start offering intimate evening events in Kulture. These will range from Live Music to Bistro nights. We can't bloody WAIT!
Support & Funds
To first open Kulture in 2022, myself and Jonathan took on a very large amount of personal debt to fund our DIY renovation, somewhere in the region of £55,000! We posted lots of our renovation journey on our Instagram, and it's still there, if your interested in seeing it. With the help of my Dad, Mark, and Step Dad, Anthony, we went about doing the renovation ourselves. Youtube became a brilliant source of information, from learning how to rewire ceiling lights, restore vintage furniture, laying & welding polysafe kitchen flooring, tanking basements, to building our epoxy resin coffee bean bar top, the list goes on! We learnt LOADS but, we ran over our budget and our time frame. What was supposed to take us 8 weeks, took us 16! This time around, we're hiring the professionals!
Your donations will be spent on these key parts of our business:
£2,500 Full keg system installed with 4 beer lines, including condensers, gas cylinder system and beer lines.
£1,750 New, crucial equipment including bottle fridges, cubed ice machine, crushed ice machines.
£1,500 Custom made gantry to be built above bar top to house glass wear.
£1,000 New outside area equipment, to give customers a better experience while sitting outside our café. This includes heavy duty posts and branded banners, tables & chairs.
Over the last year, our team has grown to 7 and we're all coffee mad (except Phoebe, her drink of choice is apple juice). With the introduction of our evening bar concept, we hope to add another 3 team members to our team and I cannot wait to have even more amazing people working in Kulture. The whole team is super excited to be welcoming you all to our new evening concept, where we'll be shaking cocktails and slinging pints.

We have put together some amazing rewards for you, should you be able to donate to our project. Having done something crazy like opening a business in the midst of a cost of living crisis, I know how hard it can be to spend money on things that may not be essential to you. With that in mind, the rewards we wanted to offer had to be good value for money, and I believe we have done that! We have created a large range of rewards to offer as much value as possible, should you wish to help us! These include HUGE money off vouchers, private venue hire, coffees, barista training and even cocktail masterclasses! (Jono was a cocktail masterclass MASTER, back when we worked at The Liquorist on Greek Street).
