0We are delighted to have finished our three-year pilot as part of a larger charity and to have gone it alone - we have now been running our own affairs since April 2024. We are a busy site, with individual volunteers and visiting groups from the local community.
Our 300-tree community orchard is thriving and so is our activity programme!
We are proud of how many different groups and individuals have visited and used our site, for practical training, for fun activities, or just to admire the views and breathe the air...!
We found four species of orchids on our site this year, as well as recording an increase in the number of insect and bird species. Our wee bit of the planet really seems to be improving for wildlife!
What we need now is a bit more cash in the bank, to allow us to thrive until our first year's accounts are lodged, after which we shall be able to access grant funding for which we are currently precluded from applying. We also have no cash reserve currently, to save for a rainy day, or for unexpected problems. This needs to be remedied if we are to become sustainable, as a valued facility in the local Dumbarton community.
