A BIT ABOUT US..
Kiss the Koala was opened during the Covid 19 pandemic by two sisters with a passion for brunch.
Our business has experienced obstacles from the outset but from the day we opened our doors we have loved being part of the Crouch End community. We have enjoyed bringing something a little bit different and special to the area and would love to continue doing so in future when restrictions are lifted.

HOW THE COVID19 PANDEMIC HAS AFFECTED US..
Each time the restrictions have been enhanced our business has suffered a little more, however, we have remained determined to look after our staff and customers and to provide a small piece of normality to people in these uncertain, worrying times, while focusing our attention on keeping people safe. We feel it is important for people's mental well-being for things to remain as normal as possible, albeit within the social distancing guidelines.
HOW WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE CHANGES TO OUR BUSINESS SO FAR..
Opening during the pandemic, we knew that we would have to make significant changes to our initial plans. However, continually having to adapt the business during changes to restrictions has been more of a challenge than we anticipated. We are aware that this pandemic is having an impact on people's mental well-being, so we have tried our hardest to keep things as 'normal' as possible for our staff and customers whilst at the same time keeping them safe. Routine is so important to the people that we work with and to our loyal customers and we hope that by staying open we are making a positive contribution to that. Up to now we have been able to keep all of our staff employed and we have been able to continue trading, albeit at reduced capacity. The latest restrictions have come at a critical point in the year when business is notoriously slow, and this has had really negative impact on our business. In view of that we are now looking to raise funds and would welcome pledges and/or donations to enable us to be here and ready to open when restrictions are finally lifted.

PAY IT FORWARD..
Our Pay It Forward scheme launched last year and was a huge success. We feel that it is vital to give back to the community and our scheme allowed people to buy a coffee for someone else who could then redeem for free when they needed it. We saw many people benefit from the little pick me up that a free coffee gave to them when they needed it most. We also saw the joy that people received by giving to others who were in need.

With the success of our pay it forward coffee scheme, we would like to introduce a new scheme that will benefit children in our local community who will be affected by the 'no free school meals' during half term. We would like to give people the opportunity to support this scheme with donations that will enable us to provide free nutritious meals to children who need them during half term. We are in the midst of contacting local schools to get the word out to the people who would benefit most and to ensure that they take advantage of our scheme.
Funding permitting, we will extend these free children's meals as far as we can into the lockdown.
We will also be giving people the opportunity to purchase vouchers for grazing platters, brunch boxes and general vouchers that can be spent in the cafe on future visits when we can welcome you back inside Kiss the Koala.
FOR NOW..
We will continue to serve the local community via take away and delivery the best we can, for as long as we can, and look forward to seeing some familiar (and hopefully some new) faces when we are able to reopen fully.
We look forward to seeing you very soon.
