The story so far...
Now then... my name is Kirsty Brannan and I'm a singer songwriter from Yorkshire UK. For the past 5 years I have been performing as a working musician in pubs, venues and weddings across the region... earning a living singing other peoples songs. This in itself is a dream I never thought would happen. Having never found the confidence or self belief to perform earlier in life, I allowed life, work and family responsibilities to take over and let music slip into the background. Until I had a midlife awakening... a fateful sequence of events (along with a lot of hard graft) that led me to meet the right people and find the right opportunities to make this happen. I feel so fortunate to be where I am in life... but now I'm ready to take things to the next level...
I started venturing in to the realm of songwriting in 2023 when I released my first single "Let It Flow", co written and produced with Leeds singer songwriters The Dunwells. Since then I have been collaborating with other musicians and developing my songwriting skills. I even attended a songwriting retreat in the French Alps last year and now feel ready to commit the time, love and effort to my own music. That's where you come in...
Recording and producing music and the work required for marketing comes at a cost that my wage as a self-employed musician simply won't stretch to! I need your help to fund this project and get my music out into the world.
About the EP
My music is about love, loss, friendship and growth. With poetic lyrics heavy with metaphors and a sense of melancholy throughout - the title of the EP wrote itself! "Melancholy and Metaphors"is a memoir and celebration of a period of growth and change in my life, rich with pain and joy in equal measure.
With an overall pop/folk feel, I draw my musical influences from female artists such as Lizzie McAlpine, Freya Ridings and Sara Barielles. But you will also find a sprinkling of indie/rock influences from bands such as Counting Crows and Coldplay
The EP will consist of 6 songs, 3 of which are already finished and ready to go. Your pledges will fund a further 3 songs to be recorded and mastered and the marketing costs associated with their release. I am also passionate about the idea of making lasting connections with my audience so plan to release a CD with beautiful artwork, rather than just digital versions of my songs. Then the project will culminate with a live launch show with a full band to celebrate the release. Your pledges will also help fund this too.
I will be working with Matt Dunwell aka Solow Choir to record and produce the tracks and collaborating with other local musicians for recording and performing. Matt has a wealth of experience in both production and media content creation and has helped make many local singer songwriters find success with their own releases.

Prize Draw Terms & Conditions
1. To enter you must be aged 18 or over and resident of Great Britain
2. You can enter the draw by pledging £5 through the rewards section of my campaign page and clicking the prize draw reward
There is also a free entry route - this can be done be emailing [email protected] with your name and contact details
All entries will incur postage and packaging costs if the prize is not collected in person

3. Kirsty Brannan is the promoter of this prize draw (Crowdfunder is not the promoter)
4. The competition starts on 03/03/26 and runs until 31/03/26.
5. The prize is a Stagg acoustic guitar (Model SW207N) hand painted by Kirsty Brannan - details of the design can be provided prior to the draw if requested.
6. The draw will be made at the live launch show on 03/10/26 by entering all participant names into a hat.
7. If the winner is not present at the launch they will be notified via the contact details provided and arrangements made for collection or delivery

I'm so excited to get working on this project, this has been a dream of mine for so long that I never thought would be possible. I am hoping with your help that I can make this a reality. But this isn't just a vanity project...New and original music is so important to keep the grassroots music industry alive. Every musician, producer, venue owner and audience member has a part in this story, this is just me sharing my part of it.
