Aim

To create a Saturday Fresh Produce & Crafts Market located in Kirriemuir Town Centre

 What

To create a Saturday Fresh Produce & Crafts Market located in Kirriemuir Town Centre

Why

Kirriemuir is our special  little red sandstone market town, with  an 800 year old history but currently without a market,  - a situation which we would like to change.

The Local  Authority and Regeneration Group have recently signed off completing a 5 year project which has seen replacement of the High Street cobblestone sets, replacing slabs and benches in the Town Square and repointing the sandstone structure of many of the shop fronts and other buildings. The town is looking fantastic and ready to welcome back local folk and visitors, who may have chosen to go elsewhere while all the work was taking place.

Aim

Our aim is to use the market to help bring the Community back into town, to create a regular event where local producers and artisans can showcase and sell their goods, where customers can purchase fresh and healthy foods or unique gifts,  to boost the local economy and increase footfall, which will also benefit other town centre retailers and small businesses.

Where

The market will be situated alongside the High Street in Cumberland Close,  an attractive sheltered courtyard area. This location is close to several car parks and holding the market here will not interrupt pedestrian or vehicular traffic elsewhere in town.

When

We plan to hold the market on the first Saturday of each month, continuing through the winter months,  with an option to move into to one of the town main halls if the weather is unfavourable outdoors. We can think of lots of themes to make each market  day more interesting and fun to visit each time, but our primary aim is to give local folk  easily accessible, affordable and better choices of  produce 'on their own doorstep'

How

Shaun  &  Tina  (t/as Elemental) are covering the costs of  the Market Operators license,  public liability insurances and  ensuring that the Market will meet all  local authority  standards and criteria.  We are already investing our own belief,  time and money, but we would like the market to have an immediate impact and get off to a flying start.

Therefore this crowd funding project is intended to raise some extra funding to invest in the scheme - to pay for some of the setting up expenses, extra hands to help, digital advice  and really a effective  social media, local press, banners, posters and leaflets advertising campaign.  If we raise enough it would be great to include some entertainment and enhance the theme that we decide to follow for the first event, to make the day more memorable and to encourage folk come back again.

We anticipate that after the first successful market, subsequent events will be self funding and if the market is continuing to be profitable we will undertake to donate surplus funds back into other community causes.

This project successfully funded on 8th August 2018
