KINGSBRIDGE AREA FOODBANK

RCN 1189068, Kingsbridge

The object of the Kingsbridge Area Food Bank is the prevention and/or relief of poverty in Kingsbridge and surrounding villages, primarily through the provision of food, hygiene and household products, but also related additional services, assistance and support for those in need. All provided by an entirely volunteer team.

Kingsbridge Area FoodBank have been providing independent crisis support for 11 years - in Kingsbridge, Salcombe and the surrounding 24 villages/parishes.

Run entirely by volunteers - the dedicated team of 80+ regular volunteers - provide weekly food parcels for 170+ households.  All food parcels are delivered to service-users homes and contain fresh fruit, vegetables and other fresh groceries where possible. We try to encourage individuals and families to cook healthy alternatives to shop-bought sauces when they can afford to do so.

Many of our deliveries are made to villages with very little - or none at all - public bus provision and village stores are no substitute for supermarkets and the lower prices they are able to charge.

Although humans are always our priority - we also understand the necessity for some to keep pets, for company and mental-health reasons.

As the cost-of-living crisis deepens, we understand that more people will need some help and some people will need more help. Our trustees and volunteers are dynamic and diverse enough to ensure we remain flexible enough to react to the fluctuating needs of service-users.

With close links to schools, social prescribing teams, hospital discharge teams, the emergency services and many other frontline services - we are in the best position to provide urgent, practical support.
