Our stretch target will allow us to undertake some amazing work for Kings Heath Comm...
Help us secure the future of Kings Heath Community Centre — owned by the community, for the community.
Birmingham City Council is in the process of disposing of Kings Heath Community Centre as part of wider financial cuts. When this news emerged, local residents came together with one shared goal: to save the Centre and ensure it remains a place run by the community, for the community.
That group — now formally established as the Kings Heath Community Centre Community Benefit Society — has been named the Council’s preferred bidder to take over ownership and management of the building. This community share offer is the next crucial step in that journey.
Kings Heath Community Centre already has so much potential. It houses a sports hall, two function rooms, a garden, kitchen, foyer, car park, and offices. Yet it has been underused and under-promoted for years, operating at a loss and proving difficult for local people to access.
We believe it can become a thriving hub of activity, creativity, and connection — a space that’s accessible, inclusive, and well-used by local groups, residents, and visitors throughout the week.
We are launching our community share offer on 12 October 2025, giving local people the opportunity to invest directly in the future of the Centre.
Funds raised will allow us to take ownership of the building, cover initial running costs, and carry out vital improvements to make the Centre welcoming, efficient, and environmentally sustainable.
Investment from the community will allow us to:
By investing in the share offer, you’ll become a member-owner of the Kings Heath Community Centre Community Benefit Society. Every member has one vote, regardless of investment size, ensuring decisions are made collectively and democratically.
Those unable to invest can still become members by paying a £1 joining fee, helping to shape the Centre’s direction.
We are confident that with community ownership, Kings Heath Community Centre can once again become a valued and self-sustaining local resource — a place where people meet, learn, celebrate, and create.
This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure the future of a much-loved community space. By investing, you’ll help preserve it for future generations and create a Centre that truly reflects the energy and diversity of Kings Heath.
Invest now to own a share in Kings Heath Community Centre and shape its future.
