Aim

We are ambitiously hoping to secure £100,000 to support the refurbishment and update our science laboratories.

At Kings’ we have the highest aspirations for every pupil because we know the impact that a first class education can have on the future of each individual child.

With this in mind, we are ambitiously seeking £100,000 through the application of grants, kind donations and funding opportunities.  We are hoping to raise this to support the refurbishment and update our science laboratories.

Kings’ is a secondary school serving 1800 pupils between the ages of 11 and 16 years.

Our goal is to create safe, modern, and inspiring lab spaces that foster scientific curiosity, hands-on learning, and academic excellence. This refurbishment will directly impact pupil engagement, STEM achievement, our ability to enhance our extra-curricular and club activities on offer and stimulate and prepare for future careers.

We want to inspire the futures of our next generation of budding scientists, offering diverse opportunities in fields such as biology, chemistry, physics environmental science, and engineering, with various roles in demand and promising job outlooks.

We propose a comprehensive refurbishment of at least eight out of our ten science laboratories. These upgrades will give pupils a more modern and accessible provision for STEM learning. The new layout will better use the space available, making it more inclusive and less challenging for pupils with a physical disability, and enable pupils to gain more individual practical experience, engendering an environment that promotes creativity and innovation. The upgrade will modernize the facilities, improve current efficiencies and build resilience for the future. These include:

  • Replacement of workbenches, sinks, windows and blinds, door & wall fixtures and storage units
  • Re-design laboratories layout to increase practical working space and improve access for those challenged by physical mobility
  • Replacement of carpet for flooring that is more suitable and equipped to cope under the pressures of science lab spills, wear and tear.
  • Installation of modern safety equipment (fume hoods, eyewash stations etc)
  • Upgrading electrical and plumbing systems
  • Integration of digital tools (smart boards, data loggers, microscopes)
  • Improved lighting and ventilation

This refurbishment is a vital investment in our pupils’ futures. With your support, we can transform our science labs into dynamic learning environments that spark curiosity, build skills, and open doors to STEM careers.
