We are on a mission to support families!

Help us support new parents and open our Family Wellbeing Hub by buying a Kin Collective wellbeing cup.

Kin Collective has been created to provide family wellbeing services including practical, professional and vital peer support online and in person in pregnancy and early parenthood to help parents feel more prepared and more confident. As mothers ourselves we know the importance of supporting physical, emotional and mental wellbeing and helping parents feel connected. This year social isolation and loneliness have increased dramatically and many new parents have been parenting in a pandemic with little or no contact with other local families.

At the beginning of the year we knew that parents would need more help on their journey into parenthood as support, movement and the opportunity to meet other new parents was restricted. At the start of lockdown we created Pregnancy and Postnatal Support Scotland with an incredible team of perinatal specialists and we are so proud to have been supporting over 2000 mothers and parents online.

Since March our incredible online community of pregnant and new mums from all across Scotland have:

  • supported each other
  • shared their experiences of pregnancy, birth and parenting in a pandemic
  • met and connected with local parents
  • shared hints and tips with each other
  • swapped and shared by passing on baby clothes and goods

and accessed valuable peer support

In addition during lockdown Kin Collective have also provided:

  • weekly virtual coffee meetups
  • a mum mentoring service
  • guided relaxations
  • question and answer sessions
  • over 80 information videos from a range of perinatal professionals focusing on physical, emotional and mental wellbeing in pregnancy and postpartum

Since October we have also introduced covid secure free to attend buggy walks and we are in the process of launching our buggy buddies scheme.

We are excited to continue strengthening community support and connection both online and in person through the opening of our new hub in Leith.

Opening our Family Wellbeing Hub - what will your support enable us to offer?

New parents need face to face support and with your help we can open the doors to our Family Wellbeing Hub in 2021, providing a welcoming space that is accessible, inclusive and open to all.

Every donation helps us to provide in person support in addition to our online groups in pregnancy and early parenthood and our hub's peer support programme includes:

  • Positive pregnancy
  • Infant feeding
  • Perinatal mental health
  • Postpartum health and fitness drop in
  • Sling and real nappy library
  • Group and buddy buggy walks

Our hub will also allow us to offer:

  • Accessible antenatal courses and workshops to help families prepare for parenting
  • Practical parenting skills to enable parents to feel more confident
  • Our Kin wellbeing workshops and take a pause toolkits for expectant and new parents
  • Access to a team of perinatal specialists to support parents on every step of the journey

Who will we help?

By paying it forward we are ensuring our service is accessible. We offer support to all parents and carers in pregnancy and early parenthood. We are also strengthening our referral pathways and partners to ensure that our support reaches those individuals that need it most. We are working with local communities to identify where there may be individuals and groups in need to help us prioritise our support.

So what can you do?

Gift a Kin cup of kindness!

We believe every parent deserves a warm cuppa! Our beautiful eco-friendly spill proof Kin cup is a collaboration with Klean Kanteen which keeps drinks hot for 14 hours making it the perfect gift for all parents.

And it's more than that. We've all heard the phrase you can't pour from an empty cup, and by gifting a Kin cup to yourself, or a family member or friend, you are helping us promote self care and wellbeing for parents. Buying a cup of kindness will help to spread the word about how important it is for new parents to look after themselves and to let them know how important they are to you.

Not only are we helping parents to look after themselves, but with your help we’re putting parental wellbeing higher up on the list, talking openly about perinatal mental health and offering additional support to parents. Our campaign to encourage new parents to #fillyourcup allows us to use the funds raised to continue supporting perinatal mental health, to open the doors to our Family Wellbeing Hub and expand our services.

And it doesn’t stop there, our eco friendly cups help us to divert disposable cups away from landfill, last year an estimated 2.5 billion cups were sent to landfill and by partnering with Klean Kanteen we are able to help promote more sustainable living.

We are proud to have supported over 2000 expectant and new mums and parents since lockdown began in March. As parents ourselves and working in perinatal education, midwifery, mental health training and women’s health physiotherapy the Kin team is able to focus on physical, emotional and mental support.

We need your help!

We need to raise £8,000 which will allow us to continue providing and developing our online support and also open the doors to our Family Wellbeing Hub in 2021. With the funds you help us to raise we can offer more support including the roll out of our Wellbeing Workshops and Take a Pause Toolkits for parents along with our free to attend funded peer support groups. We have some fantastic rewards so that you can treat yourself or someone you love and support such an important cause.

What can you do?

  • Buy a Kin cup to support our cause
  • Or make a donation to pay it forward
  • And share on social media with family, friends and colleagues

We are offering a range of rewards so that you can choose who you want to support. Is it YOU that deserves a hot cuppa? (Yes!) Are you treating a friend? Do you want to pay it forward enabling us to reach more of our community? Or do you simply want to support our cause because you’ve been there and you get it and you know how important this is? We have a range of rewards enabling you to treat yourself or pay it forward and every reward and donation takes us another step closer. We would be so grateful if you could share our crowdfunder on social media with your family and friends to help us on this journey. Thank you for being a part of it.

What next?

If you are pregnant or a new parent and would like to join our community we would love to hear from you.
