Kickstart our Modern British Furniture Business!

Our Story

We launched Frank in October 2021 with an idea to design, make and sell modern British furniture here in the UK. With Brexit and supply chain issues around the world it made sense to make furniture for the UK market in the UK.

Our launch product was a plywood and laminate dining table with hand turned legs and we've gone on to design a coffee table and desk and work with local small scale manufacturers to bring these ideas to life. 

We are a team of three: Chris, Bella and Connor working from a small office in Canterbury, Kent. Bella and Connor we employed through the government Kickstarter programme and are working out really great! I'd love Frank to be in a position to take them on full time when the programme finishes in April. 

Our initial products are all made to order or bespoke items - and even with great feedback from potential clients - we know it might be months before they are ready to order their bespoke table or desk. 

We realised that together with bespoke items we need to offer items available right now - less expensive items to spread the Frank word and start to build our customer base. 

Recycled by Frank is a new range of shelving, tables and desks that uses recycled materials and second hand items to build modern and stylist furniture at an affordable price. 

Our first Recycled by Frank project are laminated plywood shelves. We use plywood off cuts from the UK importer that was previously sent to land fill or burnt! We can cut these off cuts to any size our customer needs. So they are not only saving the planet but also we can sell for more than 50% cheaper than new plywood. 

We have also found old metal table bases,trestle bases and old restaurant table tops - all that we can put to use as dining tables, desks and coffee tables. 

Why We Need Your Help

We want to offer these one-off Recycled by Frank pieces on the last Friday of every month at visitfrank.com but we need a little extra funding to buy, clean, paint, cut, oil and photograph these pieces. We started Frank on a shoestring - literally - and we need a little help to kick start Recycled by Frank.

2.  Get in touch. Maybe you need a new dining table? coffee table? or something else? We're happy to design something based on your brief. We have access to wood and metal workshops and a CNC cutting machine so feel free to email us via our website and put us to the test! 

3. Donate via Crowdfunder. We've never done anything like that before but we'd be so delighted if you decided to support us through a donation. We've come up with some cool rewards too - we really don't expect something for nothing so we'd give you or your business a shout out on our website, send you a limited edition Frank sticker or T-shirt AND offer you a gift card to spend on all our bespoke furniture or Recycled by Frank items in 2022.
