With the club entering its' 50th year, we are looking to match fund and replace our existing single hander fleet with Fusion Dinghies.
King George Sailing Club, established in 1972, enters its' 50th year. To celebrate, we are looking to renew our aged Laser Pico fleet (26 years old) with the latest up-to-date equipment, the Fusion.

This has meant their projects have run smoother and been delivered quicker, whilst reducing the environmental impact of lorries having to make more frequent trips.
We have also delivered training for the RYA for junior sailing on a regional basis, offering our facilities and equipment for them to use.
In the sailing community, we have held numerous events for class associations, including the Laser/ILCA, Solo and Blaze. We are also a part of the national Selden Winter Series, holding a large scale event in January for up to 80 boats. All of our events allow for a competitive nature, whilst ensuring they are enjoyable for all those that enter. Take a look at the video below to see a snap shot of the recent King George Gallop, held in January 2022, run by our fantastic set of volunteers.

We are crowdfunding as our Laser Pico's, now 26 years old, have reached the end of their life span. Our National Governing Body (NGB), the RYA, have highlighted on their last two inspections the age of our equipment and have asked us to create an action plan for improving the equipment we have available.
With COVID-19 hitting all sailing clubs hard, we have had to utilise our single handed fleet more typically than we would have done in previous years. This has had a profound effect on the wear and tear, and economically repairs and spares are becoming more expensive.
With this in mind, we have decided to match fund our way into a fleet of new boats. We would like to purchase 6 new Fusion dinghies. The club will be fronting £10000 of the £20000 price tag. The rest of the funds will be generated from crowd funding, funding applications, donations, hosting events and selling off old equipment to get us across the finish line.
The hope, once we are there, is that this will improve the number of members in the club, improve the number of people we can teach, improve the teaching experience and improve the number of equipment hires we make.
These new boats will be available to all those taking lessons, the young through to the old.

We plan to spend the money on purchasing 6 new Fusion dinghies. Any money raised above the amount £10000 target will go towards new wetsuits to ensure those learning have the nicest equipment throughout their learning experience.
When sailing, it's nice to have the most comfortable and up-to-date equipment, there is nothing worse than having aged, well used equipment that breaks regularly, ultimately causing frustration to all, students and instructors.
Adding new wetsuits to the experience will mean that all the students will be significantly warming throughout.
There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.
