Raising funds to ensure we can continue to enable our swimmers to develop to their true potential throughout COVID-19 restrictions.

With the extra money raised from our stretch target we'll be in a strong position to increase the development potential of ALL our swimmers and guarantee the best training available going forward. This will also mean we can offer a hardship fund to any of our families who have been financially affected by the impact of COVID-19 and are struggling with their membership fees.
Why Swimming?Swimming is an excellent sport for both physical fitness and mental health reasons. Established more than sixty years ago, Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club (KASC) is a community swimming club run by volunteers offering training for skills development, fitness and competition to swimmers aged five to 105. Our home pool is at Keynsham Leisure Centre, with additional sessions at Hengrove Leisure Centre for our Competition Squads and Masters. KASC has a strong ethos to provide opportunities to all and for our local community. We aspire to inspire our athletes new and old. To give young children, teens and adults a chance to join a swimming club. To have fun, enjoy competing and benefit physically and emotionally from this rewarding sport.
Swimming was forced to stop in mid-March. During 'Lockdown' we suspended training fees and ran on small donations to help out our members and their families during that difficult time. During this period, weekly land training video sessions were available to engage the swimmers and help them maintain their fitness levels.
After nearly 6 months out of the water, we returned on 7th September and we have been in the fortunate position to offer a near full training programme for all of our swimmers. Our COVID-19 taskforce worked hard behind the scenes as Lockdown was eased to provide a COVID-19 secure outdoor face-to-face land training programme and a safe return to swimming once we had the green light. However, pool cost have increased due to the restriction on numbers allowed in the pool at any one time. Because of this, we are not quite meeting our running costs which has had a huge financial strain on Keynsham Amateur Swimming Club, as we are operated as a not-for-profit club. We would ordinarily be topped up by holding in-house swimming galas (which are not allowed for the foreseeable future), and growing membership (which we are unable to do because we are at capacity across most our squads). So, this is where this Crowdfunder comes in.
We need to raise £12,000 to keep our club running without interruption until hopefully things return to a near normal in summer 2021.
If we raise £3,000 (25%), then Sport England will pledge a match fund of £6,000 (50%) of our target leaving us with just the remaining £3,000 (25%) to raise in order secure the match funding. BUT we have to raise ALL of it or we get nothing!
