Had a dream, made the dream, ran out of money. Independent grassroots film seeking post-production funding to finish a Bristolian comedy.

- What We’ve Done
We’ve shot a feature-length satire about the drug culture we’ve seen around us in Bristol.
How did we choose to explore it? Through a zombie outbreak caused by a dangerous strain of ketamine, of course. What starts as a night out quickly descends into an increasingly surreal outbreak, culminating in what can only be described as a giant k-hole-filled rave. It’s ridiculous, it’s chaotic, and beneath all the madness, it’s our attempt to poke fun at something we’ve seen become an increasingly familiar part of life for young people around us.
- How We Did It
Ultimately we shot the film in two different blocks. Initially, we shot the big set piece at Full Moon in Stokes Croft with the foolish idea of having hundreds of extras as zombies at a rave. As the first shoot day, it was hard work.
After this, we managed to film the rest of the shoot across one week. From locations varying from Clifton to Weston Super Mare. It was tough, but with a great crew and the momentum to keep going, it was bloody worth it.
We can honestly say that the scale and ambition of this project developed as we went along.
When we started, the plan was simple: make some short films, learn from them, build up our experience and gradually work towards something bigger.
Then the ideas started getting bigger. And bigger. And somehow, three years later, that small first step has turned into a bonkers, ambitious feature film.
We’ve learnt an enormous amount along the way (often by figuring things out as we went) and we’re incredibly proud of how far the project has grown.
Making films in film school is one thing, making them in real life with your own money is something else.
The scale and cost of this film wasn't our original intention.
But here we are.
- Why We Need Additional Funding
When it comes to funding this film, there hasn't been any. Well, unless you count shifts at Tesco. Every single penny spent on this film came from years of saving up the director’s wages at Tesco. Some of you reading this probably know him.
Everything we've made so far has been self-funded. And, as we've discovered, making films isn't cheap.
Throughout production we've had to cover location fees, camera equipment, insurance, sound and lighting equipment, a van to transport it all, crew fees and plenty of other costs along the way. We've had to save for each stage of the production, which has meant a lot of time, a lot of work and a lot of Tesco shifts.
But we've now reached the final hurdle: post-production.
To finish the film properly, we still need to fund an editor, sound mastering, additional recording with the cast, visual design, music and one days additional filming. These are all essential to turning what we've shot into the finished film we know it can be. Based on the quotes we've received, we estimate that completing the edit and post-production will cost around £8,500. That's simply more than we can fund ourselves.
So this is where we're asking for your help. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, gets us closer to finishing the film. We've put everything we can into getting it this far, and now we'd love your help keeping the dream alive and getting it over the finish line.
- Why This Could Be Important
This is make or break for us. We've already shot the film, but without the funding to finish the post-production, we're not able to release it in the way we want to.
But it's about more than just one film. We're hoping to keep our delusions alive long-term and make more films together. This project has introduced us to an amazing group of people, given us the chance to learn an enormous amount and shown us just how much we want to keep doing this.
