Young Fundraising Ambassador Kenzie Appleton's Latest Adventure To Raise Vital Funds For Alder Hey Children's Hospital. Please Help!

Hello Everyone,

First of all 'THANK YOU' for visiting my crowdfunding page to help me raise funds for Alder Hey Children's Hospital who have cared and supported me for the past 5 years.

On Friday 18th March 2011, I was urgently referred to Alder Hey after developing a limp that wouldn't subside. After various trips to my GP and numerous investigations, I was diagnosed with Perthes Disease; a condition where blood flow is affected in the head of the femur and results in the bone becoming soft and breakable.

I have undergone numerous treatments including two major surgeries and countless hydrotheraphy and physiotheraphy to help my condition.

I was 4 years old when I first arrived at Alder Hey,  as a family we didn't know what to expect but that soon changed. Staff we met from all over the hospital were absolutely incredible and our worries  was soon put to rest.

My Mum says... 'If I'm honest I don't really think we would have coped as well if it wasn't for Alder Hey and Kenzie's strength, courage and determination. Nothing fazes him and he's never refused to do anything. He's coped with everything so well. There were times when I didn't want to know what the next day would bring but for him to wake up and smile and just get on with things has been completely mind blowing. His strength has carried us all as a family and we have realised 'Not All Superheroes Wear Capes! Some People Wait A Lifetime To Meet Their Hero, We're Raising Ours'.

I finished my physiotheraphy in August 2015 after my latest major surgery back at Christmas 2014. With all my hard work and determination paying off I completed the 3k Oli Safari Walk at Knowsley Safari Park without the use of my wheelchair which I've relied upon for the past few years.

At Christmas 2014, I then went onto lauch my Toy Appeal, which encourages others to donate toys to the children who stay at Alder Hey over Christmas. It was hugely successful and in 2015 I decided to repeat it. This time it reached new levels of popularity with Leighton Baines (Everton FC) and Johnny Vegas (Comedian) backing my campaign.

Without the help and support of kind, generous members of the public, who donate, organise events or support me fundraising I couldn't achieve any of this.

On Friday 18th December, I delivered thousands of gifts to Alder Hey Children's Hospital for all the children who would be spending their Christmas in hospital.

In Septemeber it was announced I had been named as 'Young Fundraising Ambassador for Alder Hey Children's Hospital & Charity' for all the fundraising I have done over the past few years, which was an honour to accept.

I (Kenzie)  was also awarded with Pride of St. Helens 'Child Of Courage Award 2015' for showing courage, strength, bravery throughout my journey so far and was surprised with a BBC North West Christmas Star Award from BBC North West Tonight's Roger Johnson for all the fundraising I have done for Alder Hey.

My main goal is to help Alder Hey, just like they've helped me. Without them I wouldn't be where I am today.

Please help me achieve this by donating what you can to my cause!

Thank You for reading,

Kenzie.
