Providing unaccompanied young refugees and asylum seekers with a safe, positive space and supporting them to succeed #refugeeswelcome

Welcome to the KRAN family!

Kent Refugee Action Network has worked in Kent for over twenty years and offers holistic, empowering & immediate support to separated young refugees & asylum seekers in care when they arrive in the UK.

Our aims are for the young people we support are to be safe, belong and build hope for a better future. Our mission is to work with refugees and asylum seeking young people who are striving to live fulfilled, independent lives in our communities to which they actively contribute.

Please help us to raise money and reach our fundraising target to continue supporting these amazing young people!

KRAN offers a safe, supportive, positive and non judgemental space for young people who can build trusting relationships with staff and regularly return to KRAN when they are in need. We call ourselves the KRAN Family, and want to support young people on a pathway to move from surviving to striving to thriving within society.

With the current political landscape in Kent looking challenging for charities like ours, we are seeing an increase in demand for our services. Please support the work we do with young refugees and asylum seekers by helping us to reach our fundraising target!

What do we do?

We work with young refugee and asylum seeking people in care and care leavers, offering a variety of services, which include:

Learning for Life - an education and life skills programme that aims to make a profound positive impact on their transition to mainstream education. In 2024, 112 young people accessed our Learning for Life classes, approximately 80% were able to attend college as a result.

Casework, Advocacy and Support - Early intervention, complex and specialist case work for housing and legal issues supporting refugee and asylum seeking young people that are care leavers up to the age of 26.

Mentoring - young people are paired with a trained, volunteer mentor to meet regularly, support them, to set goals together and work towards achieving them.

Activities and Well-being sessions -  a broad range of activities linked in with our Learning for Life programme to encourage them to discover a new passion which reduces isolation, improves mental well-being and builds-up confidence in their new community.
