Who are we?
We are Kennedy Street Recovery – a Brighton based charity supporting people to recover from addiction and rebuild their lives. We run a Recovery Hub in Brighton where people can get support to find out about recovery, coaching and peer support to stay stopped and access workshops to build their skills and employment opportunities
I started my recovery journey 28 years ago. My husband was an addict, and I was focused on helping him, not realising that I had a problem too. Thankfully, we managed to get into recovery and we have been clean and sober for 25 years. I retrained as a recovery therapist and set up Kennedy Street to help others on their recovery journey.
We are a small, local charity with a big heart and a high impact - we change and save lives!
Our impact - this is why we do it!
We support people into recovery, connecting them with mentors with lived experience of recovering from addiction. We help families to cope with helping a loved one into recovery. We see more than 70 people a week at our Recovery Hub. We help people stay stopped and build a future for them and their families.
Why are we crowdfunding?
1 in 4 are affected by addiction, everyone has a friend or loved one who has had problems with drink, drugs, gambling, food or sex addiction.
We’ve learnt that people need a safe and warm space to come every day to connect with others who have been through the same experiences as them and have come out the other side. People are struggling with the cost of living crisis and but need simple connection, a hot drink and warm meal, and to feel part of a community that cares is so important. Our bills are rising but we want to help more people by opening our drop in recovery cafe every day.
How we’ll spend the money raised
All of your donations will go towards the running costs of our drop in recovery cafe, paying for rent, heating, recovery coaching and training of our volunteers.
You'll help us to help more people rebuild their lives and look forward to a bright future in recovery.
Thank You!
You've taken the time to read our story - it means a lot just getting our message out there - so thank you! Hopefully, you can connect with our cause and how a very small charity is making a big difference. If you do, we'd love you to...
