The annual Astronomy Festival is our charity's biggest fundraising event of the year. COVID-19 has certainly put a stop to that.

The Observatory Science Centre is set among the domes of the famous Royal Greenwich Observatory. We are custodians of some of the largest working telescopes in the country. Our revenue comes from our visitors. We receive no external funding to maintain the telescopes and domes so one of the ways we raise money for this is through our annual astronomy festival.  We are certainly going to miss it this year and not just because of the money raised. It is such a warm and friendly event and has become extremely popular. Visitors who come back year after year have become our friends.

It would have been the 16th Astronomy Festival this year and the 25th anniversary of The Observatory Science Centre and we had planned for a very special event. However, the restrictions mean we are not going to be able to see everyone and celebrate in the same way. Instead we are going to offer a free on-line event on the 5th September when the festival would have been in full swing.

If you are able to make a donation towards the upkeep of our fabulous domes and telescopes and help the charity keep our heritage alive then we would be extremely grateful. Thank you!
