To fund warm packs and warm spaces for vulnerable residents in South Manchester to access through the winter.
Through winter 2022/23 we are focused on keeping residents accessing our foodbank services in South Central Manchester 'warm through winter'.
We are opening our foodbank sessions up as a warm spaces hub. Clients are invited to stay and sit in the café area to keep warm, at our three afternoon sessions a week. The aim of the warm spaces initiative is to help address fuel costs and to provide a free, safe, warm and inviting space for residents to spend time during the colder months.
During this time clients will be able to receive their food parcel and support/signposting from our volunteers, and will additionally be invited to spend the afternoon to engage in free activities, including, access to a community library, board games, a toy bank, and digital access. Clients will also be offered hot food and drinks during their stay.
We will also be providing clients with 'warm packs' to take home with their food parcel. These will include blankets, hot water bottles, hats and socks.
