New stretch target

We have decided to stretch the target to 2600. The extra funds will go towards,  The Hedge Fund A Legacy Project for Dongria, our much loved founder who died last year. £600 will enable us to engage two more schools in the project at 300 per schoool.

Further Project Update

Wow, thank you so much everyone, our project has reached it's target. As we've still six days to go, we have decided to stretch the target to £2600.

Project Update

This is to let you know that we have reduced our target to £2000. This is due to the happy circumstance of receiving a grant of £4000 towards our vehicle replacement fund from Yorkshire Water. Their statement:  “YW are pleased to be able to support Treesponsibility as a key organisation delivering natural flood risk management action across the Calder Valley”. The project will now run till the 30th of July and we will do everything we can in this final week to reach the new target

Hello, I'm Chrtistina, coordinator for Treesponsibility.

What we do

Treesponsibility is a climate action group based in the Calder Valley in West Yorkshire. Since 1998 we have been raising awareness of the need for action on climate change. Tackling the issue of climate change is huge and can be daunting. Treesponsibility was set up with the idea of giving people the opportunity to take the first positive step of planting a tree. As well as helping to draw down carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, trees help our valley in a particular way. The climate change scenario for the Calder Valley is for increased frequency of heavy rainfall events leading to flooding, with a number of severe events already experienced over recent decades. Trees, appropriately planted, help to mitigate for the risk and severity of flooding.

Why we need a mini bus

Over the past 24 years thousands of volunteers have helped us to plant over quarter of a million trees in the Calder Valley. We couldn’t have done it with out them. We try to encourage volunteers to use public transport where possible, with the mini bus to take them the final leg of the journey from the railway station to the tree planting sites. Volunteer days continue outside of the tree planting season when we carry out maintenance on sites.

We were devastated when we discovered our mini bus had been stolen.

Why we need your help

The vehicle has not been recovered and we have  received the insurance settlement. With the price of second hand vehicles rocketing in the last two years, the settlement is somewhat short of what is required for a decent replacement, so we are asking you for your help to raise the additional £6,000 we need.

Thank you.

Got an idea like this?

Over £200 million has been raised from our crowd to support the projects they love! Plus tens of millions more unlocked by our partners.
