Keep The Rotherhithe Shed Open For Older Adults

Aim
We need to keep the Rotherhithe Shed open for older adults to find purpose, friendship, and community.
The Rotherhithe Shed is a place where we can stay active, work on project together, learn new skills and make friends, which can be hard to do at an older age.
We’re supporting the efforts of London Bubble Theatre and Time & Talents, the local charities who run The Rotherhithe Shed to keep our workshop open. We used to have sessions twice a week but with funding restrictions, we have been cut down to once a week and we don’t want to lose our community space.
The Shed has become a big part of our lives. It helps fight loneliness, keeps our minds and hands busy, and gives us something to look forward to each week. Many of us don’t have access to the tools, materials, space or support system to work on our DIY projects at home.
“It gives you a project to work on, it gives you a purpose and a bit of an incentive to come in and carry on. You get a sense of ownership and urgency.”
That’s why we’re asking for your support.
We want the Rotherhithe Shed to stay open and free for anyone over 55 who needs it. All the money raised will go to London Bubble and Time & Talents to help them keep the Shed running.
Your donation will help pay for:
- Skilled staff who help us learn and work safely
- Our materials, tools, tea, coffee and snacks
- Rent and running costs to keep the space open
Everything we raise goes straight into keeping this social space alive.
