Keep Solomon at Circomedia

Aim

Solomon is a gifted Circomedia student who needs funds to continue his training in order to realise his full potential.

             Solomon's Circus Journey

As a dyslexic person, my son Solomon struggled with academic work and although now he loves writing poetry and songs, he was never inspired by academia.

He has always been a very physical person, climbing trees and free running were his thing. Just before his 13th birthday he discoved aerial silks and quickly became totally hooked. He has been unwaveringly passionate about circus ever since.

As a home educated young person he had ample time to hone his skills in his chosen field, he spent 5 years training with Charlie Bicknell. He also spent a year training and working with Wookey Hole circus.

When he first went to Circomedia in Bristol he was already quite the master of silks but there is so much more to learn to have a successful career in the field.

The future?

• Since the beginning we have one way or another managed to fund his journey but presently we need to raise money for Solomon to help him realise his dream to complete his circus education. There is no student loan available to vocational students and so far we have had to fund his education there. Currently, he is in the second term of this academic year and he needs enough to finish his circus education. Any money donated will go towards this.

His mental health took a turn for the worse two years ago as he struggled with PTSD. He has recovered mainly due the sense of direction that Circomedia gave him. Whether he remains a student there or as a professional member he will be connected to them as part of his career path.

His level of skill is well known and appreciated at the college which is the leading contemporary circus school in the UK.

He started at Circomedia as a way to broaden and deepen his circus training. Since being there he has enjoyed the variety of opportunities that they have to offer. This year he has majored in aerial, particularly focusing on straps and loves it almost as much as silks. He minors in partnered acro and has made great progress.

His vision is to have a successful career in circus.  He always takes any opportunity to teach that presents itself to him, he is a qualified fitness instructor and enjoys passing on his knowledge of circus and physical training. Anyone that knows him realises he shows great promise.

We would like anyone who is generous enough to contribute to come and see him perform at an outdoor venue in West Dorset in May, he wants to celebrate with you. If you live too far away we can send a thank you video.

Testimonial from Charlie Bicknel

(Established aerial silks and cabaret performer and teacher)

"Solomon Bain is undoubtedly a future aerial star. Having taught him aerial silks from the age of 12, I watched his potential grow exponentially.  He has the tenacity and ability to achieve excellence and I have no doubt that given the opportunity and support from our circus community he will excel in his chosen field."

Testimonial from Rod Laver

(Vocational couse leader at Circomedia Bristol)

"Solomon is an outstanding aerial talent who has worked independently on his skills from a young age. He has made great progress in adding a layer of performance skills and movement alongside turning his technical ability into acts. He would clearly benefit from continuing at Circomedia to help fulfill his potential so that he could professionally compete with aerial artists worldwide"
