Aim

We want to raise £5000 for the Pavilion Youth and Community Cafe. This money will continue our work to support the young people of Thanet.

We are the Pavilion Youth and Community Cafe, based in St Peters, Broadstairs. Since the start of the pandemic we have expanded our services to meet increasing demand. We need your help to keep the Pavilion thriving!

OUR STORY

In 2015 the Pavilion was a disused and derelict building, under threat of being demolished by the council.

Having been a youth worker in Thanet for 20 years, Victoria saw the Pavilion as a possible premises for a dedicated youth club in Broadstairs. After much negotiation and a huge fundraising plan, in the spring of 2017, 35 businesses, prominent local figures, and the wider community came together and helped us crowdfund £30,000 in a matter of weeks.

OUR SERVICES

As a youth club, we work primarily with vulnerable young people from Broadstairs and Thanet, ages 7-16.

We run after school open access sessions Tuesday to Friday, and very popular holiday club programmes during the school holidays.

We have hundreds of children registered to our services, with core groups who attend very regularly during term time. On our busiest day in our summer holiday club 2021 we had over 70 young people attend.

As part of the “Fit and Fed” initiative, we also provided a free hot lunch and snacks every day, with around 30 young people using this service.

WE OFFER YOUNG PEOPLE:

  • A quiet space to hang out, talk to trusted adults and make new friendships
  • 1-2-1 support with our Mental Health First Aid trained team
  • Group support for young people
  • A range of sports, arts and group game activities

ACCREDITED COURSES:

  • Duke of Edinburgh's Award
  • Arts Award
  • Bikeability courses

SPECIALIST HOBBIES:

  • Youth led arts, crafts and textile practices
  • Warhammar
  • Skateboarding
  • Yoga

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAINTAIN THESE SERVICES, AND RETAIN OUR NEW STAFF!

The pandemic has hit young people hard, and as a result we have expanded our youth provision. We have employed four new specialist youth workers, who are working practitioners within their own sectors of sport and art.

All our services are free, and as a small charity we rely on grants from bigger organisations. These funds are increasingly hard to come by.

We are asking the community to come together to raise money that will help to retain our new staff, and maintain our services to the young people of Thanet. This is why we aim to raise £5000 which will help us continue to deliver productive and meaningful youth work, as well as some training and resources.

Through your donations, you will be helping a generation of young people from Thanet reach their full potential. Let's reach our target, and show that our community is caring, giving, and always supportive!1636811189_pavilion_derelict.jpg1636811374_kane_and_nola.jpg
