Give the gift of Christmas to elderly people

Aim

We are raising funds for our Christmas meals for the elderly, poor and homeless who will otherwise spend Christmas alone

Who are we?

Be Enriched currently feed 100s of people a week with donation-based, community meals in Tooting, Battersea, Elephant & Castle and Brixton. We create safe, warm and welcoming environments to fuel an all-inclusive ethos - our doors our open to everyone. We promote health and well-being as well as foster social and community engagement with our meals. 

Our aim:

A lot of the people Be Enriched supports are elderly, homeless, single-parent families, struggling with addiction, have mental health issues or are suffering from social isolation and/ or food poverty. Our aim is for these people to feel supported and included by their community, no matter their circumstance. The holidays can be a difficult time of year for vulnerable people and we want to give the gift of Christmas to our local communities here in South London. We will be providing 4 extra-special meals in the lead of to Christmas, providing a traditional lunch with all the trimmings, entertainment and presents / care packages for some of the most marginalised people in our society. Santa might even pay us a visit! 

Why is it important?

One of our regular guests Tracy tells us "Christmas is often a difficult time of year for me, with no family of my own, I tend to feel very lonely and sometimes suffer with depression. I often have to make difficult choices between eating and turning the heating on so I either go hungry or cold on a regular basis. The meals at Be Enriched give me something to leave the house for, I really appreciate the hard-work of the volunteers and the delicious, hot meals they provide every week. I have made some great friends there too!" 

We want to make sure no-one is hungry or cold this winter! 

How can you help?

By donating to our CrowdFunder you can be a part of the solution for providing vulnerable people in South London with a community space and a delicious and nutritious meal as well as a special Christmas. As it is the season for giving, you could donate on behalf of a loved one and give a gift with a difference this Christmas. 

We also have lot's of volunteering opportunities so you can get involved that way too. 

Where will the money go?

The money will be put towards our 4 Christmas meals this December as well as providing financial support to our weekly community meals commencing again from January 2018.  Alongside providing a delicious, nutritious meal and vital social contact for 100s of Londoners a week, we also provide a pivotal role for signposting people to the correct agencies and organisations for a multitude of issues or concerns. We use our platform for a host of volunteering opportunities for people interested in up-skilling themselves, including young people and young offenders. We are Crowdfunding to help support all of these initiatives. 

Together we can make Christmas a less lonely time for a lot of Londoners!

This project successfully funded on 29th December 2017
