We're still collecting donations
On the 7th January 2024 we'd raised £25 with 2 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Local radio is dying, we aim to reverse that. We have studios, we have volunteer presenters & producers, now we need to keep the lights on!

On the 7th January 2024 we'd raised £25 with 2 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Regency Radio was born at the end of the COVID lockdown, set up by a group of experienced volunteers from the radio industry who were concerned at the loss of local radio content from the major providers. Small independent stations have be bought up by a couple of global media empires for their local licences and most content is homogenised "national" radio shows. Even public sector broadcasting has stopped local content after 10am in the morning.
Local radio is important to communities, and we aim to fill the gap that has been created. The founders have invested £50,000 of their own money to set up the station, build the studios and launch the station. The station, even though it is staffed entirely by volunteers still costs around £2,000 a month to run - due to rent, utility costs, broadcast transmission costs, OFCOM licence costs, insurance etc/
Unfortunately as a small station we don't access to the advertising revenue, because the global media firms have also purchased all the advert brokerage firms so that they have a captive market for their own radio stations.
So this brings us to crowdfunder to see if we can generate a small amount of income to keep the lights on and the station growing.
We have some amazing presenters, from the legends that are Mike Read , David Legge and Tommy Boyd through to new talent. Our team are all local's who care passionately about local radio for local people.
Our daily schedule has your regular , breakfast, daytime and drivetime shows, with news and travel and then in evenings more specialist shows, from Ignition the motoring show, Dance music specials at the weekend, and the Heritage Chart.
We don't run adverts during our shows, just have show sponsors, which means the listener gets more music and content. We also have probably the widest playlist of any station, so its highly unlikely you will hear the same song twice in a day.
We have over 50,000 listeners a week, we broadcast on DAB+ in the Brighton and Hove area, and Freeview ch277 in the south, and of course on our App, Online and On Smart Speakers.
We need your help , even if you can only afford to give £1.
Future Plans:
- Launching training at our studios for individuals in the local area who want to develop skills in broadcasting and production
- Developing more specific local content shows ( we are about to launch a local sports show)
- Increasing the number of transmitters so we can reach further along the coast
- Further developing our local news and events coverage
