Who are we?

We are members of the New Forest Netball Centre. Comprising of teams and players from the  New Forest Junior Netball Club (Hoops) and the New Forest Netball League.

We play at Poulner Junior School twice a week and work very closely with the school, providing income from lettings that go towards the School and help maintain the Community and Netball facilities. And we help spread the wonderful sport of Netball within and around the area.

Community impact

The courts are used mainly by the netballers in the evenings. The school also use their courts as a playground, for after school sports activities and during school fetes. Often the Junior club hold weekend tournaments at the site. The league has over 25 teams playing per week and the school becomes extremely busy on the courts. The Pandemic has caused a loss of funds for both the Netball Centre and school.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowd funding to raise money for the renewal of the 16 floodlights that are situated over the four courts. They were partly renewed 5 years ago, but with lots of maintenance issues occurring. It was decided that the wiring needs a complete overhaul and new LED bulbs inserted to reduce the overall cost. Bulbs have been exploding and some lights not coming on at all. The school's budget has been cut by the government so they do not have much spare cash flow to fund the whole project. Project total is £20,000 +VAT

We are crowd funding and applying for grants to help fund this. Without the lights the Netball centre will cease to function at full capacity. No matches would be played after dusk, the school would lose a lot of letting fees and the League may have to either disband or find elsewhere that is not local. Most of the junior members are local families and this is convenient for them to have this club so near. Over the pandemic the club and Netball league had to stop, This pandemic has caused financial impact by not being able to gain funds for any site improvements -  from the letting perspective of the school to the teams membership loss for 2 seasons.

How we’ll spend the money raised

All the money raised will be put towards renewing the floodlights, and if any surplus is left it will go towards resurfacing of the courts when needed, as this is the pot that the floodlight money will be coming out of.
